A good way to save resources would be to close the OBR down (along with OFSTED) since they serve no useful purpose. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

We have millions of people unemployed. If half of those entered the public sector, we get better services. And the income they spend, would fund the other half's wages in the private sector. BUT, millions more would now be consuming more, they can afford.

Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 10/02/2025
Not the question I asked.

Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 10/02/2025
We consume what we produce. Unless the economy is maxed out (and its not by any measure), we can employ more resources to run the NHS / public services, without reducing the amount of private production. So that our money should go as far as it does today. Just better public services.

Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 09/02/2025
We could. But people don't want to learn about banking. It is thought that bank rate is put up to counteract inflation. But, there is little evidence this is true.

Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 09/02/2025
We consume what we produce. If we increase the size of the public sector, without increasing the size of the private, then there can not be any more stuff (goods/services) for us to buy. So financially we will be the same.
100
Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 09/02/2025
We are told, almost continuously that increases in public service funding will leave us worse off. 'Who's going to pay for it'. This is the taxpayer myth. And this is how they justify sell off of our public services. What they don't tell us is that more public funding puts money INTO our pockets.
110
Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 09/02/2025
Yes, but I said financially, as in the amount of money left in our pockets after tax, to spend on things.
100
Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 09/02/2025
If you are on the left, and find this a difficult question to answer because you really believe that better public services, require the public to be worse off (2), then you are mistaken. The answer, as far as I can see is 1. The Same. But why? How can we not be worse off we're paying more tax?
210
Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 09/02/2025
Lets tackle a fundamental holding the left back. A Question. If public services are brought up to scratch with increased funding, will this leave the public financially. 1. The same. 2. Worse Off. 3. Better Off. Lets no longer shy away from this question.

Im not talking about the right-wing Labour party. I am talking about the left wing independent news sources , byline-times, Novara-media who feed us bullshit economics. This bullshit facilitate and justify what Labour are doing.
110
Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 11/01/2025
The Labour government are drawing up plans of austerity. People will die. Again. MMT shows this to be always a policy choice, not a financial one. BUT. The left wing independent press REFUSE, point blank to accept MMT. They would rather us plebs be kept in the dark about it. WHY?
230
Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 11/01/2025
They don't believe it They don't want to believe it This extreme arrogance amongst those on the left, has potentially left us facing another bought of crippling austerity, where people will die, because they are too proud to change their minds about the world being flat.

Autism is just a different OS installed on the brain. Some might say its far more efficient at some things, far less at others. But isn't that a good thing? There are things that only those with autism can do easily. Everyone else is deficient.

What is the rate of acceleration? How long until its going up 0.5c/decade?

Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 03/01/2025
If you calculate difference between 82 and 92 83 and 93 84 and 94 ...etc 14 and 24, The oh-fuck moment isn't that it is currently 0.32º per decade. Its that line is slopping up. The warming is accelerating. We are so in trouble.

Realise that if the government didn't tax us, that the value of our money would just evaporate. Now there is a case of too much tax being taken (the bastards take 50% of my total pay away from me, as I am on IR35), which leads to sluggish, stagnated economy, exactly what we right now.

Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 23/12/2024
This "Taking your money" idea. Money hasn't been backed by gold for decades. Now, money is just paper, or digits in a computer. The only thing that is giving it value, is the government demanding tax. If you don't pay your tax, you go to prison, that kind of makes it valuable!

You can't have more of something when we're full on 100% of it! I just want people to be aware of it, and how the oligarchs are gaslighting us by - - Using it to grant themselves massive wealth in government handouts - Denying it to justify massive cuts to the poorest.

TLDR - The treasury was Relaxed! They did not raise enough money from gilt sales, and yet, were Relaxed! Gilt sales are not a funding operation!
000
Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 22/12/2024
This is a huge.....HUGE deal. It means that since the spending has already happened, it is IMPOSSIBLE for the bond vigilantes to hold the government over a barrel, by not buying. This Reuters article is useful to see what happens if enough gilts aren't sold. ` www.reuters.com/article/busi...
reuters.com
Britain suffers first failed gilt auction since 2002
Britain suffered its first failed government bond auction since 2002 on Wednesday after bids fell more than 100 million pounds short of the 1.75 billion pounds the government was trying to raise.
100
Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 22/12/2024
The spending from the consolidated fund, whose daily deficits arrive at the loans fund (before being sold off as gilts), is quite a bit like spending on credit card, then paying it off in full at the end of the month. Spend first, pay it off later when that initial spending has arrived in the city
100
Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 22/12/2024
I think, maybe it was the government FIRST spent £6bn, and then went along, a few days layer to the city (where that £6bn ended up), and said 'Hey, do you want a fixed rate savings plan on that money you've just had?' (1/2)

Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 22/12/2024
I am saying that we have MMT right now. This is not up for debate, the fed accounts have been shown to follow MMT. So, the question is, why say it doesn't exist? Because MMT facilitates the huge amount of government money printing that is going to the already rich, for no reason.
100
Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 21/12/2024
MMT is a framework. A lens. Through it, you see what is really going on. There is a MMT prescribed policy of zero interest rates. However, the leaders *choose* to instead pay bond holders trillions of USD per year, which they can do, because of MMT.

Your analogy stands! But, if you think about it, if the bank issued £1000 as you passed go, rather than £200, the game would likely never end. The banks stingy deficit, causes people to go bankrupt.
210
Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 21/12/2024
The game of monopoly is based on the government (the bank) *not* running enough deficit, to support the savings demands of the players. Hence, eventually, the majority will go bankrupt. You're not supposed to run a real economy this way!
110
Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 21/12/2024
The thing is, once you 'get' MMT, you see it all for what it is. Government 'printing' it by the trillion and handing it out. There's a name for government handing out free money, to support businesses/people who it approves of. Its not capitalism. But, hey, keep saying MMT is bullshit.
000
Tony Weston @javadev.uk · 21/12/2024
MMT is exactly what we have right now. It is what our corrupt leaders use to grant huge sums of government money to the already rich. Now I understand there are plenty of those who want to deny MMT since they want the gravy train of government money to the rich, to not end. You one of them?
