In my job for the state of WA I end up submitting and testing loads and loads of test forms, data, and workflows. I’ve started using names of kids from classic literature who 100% should have had the system intervene to help them. It’s my own private in-joke, and no one has noticed it (yet).

A test form with data about Merricat and Constance Blackwood from We Have Always Lived in the Castle. (Seriously though, Do Not eat the sugar.)

Every game studio I have ever worked at some amazing and brilliant woman would pitch a dressmaker/fashion design/armor designer game and leadership would scoff and shoot it down. At every studio! Male C-suite/leadership dudes just cannot wrap their heads around the appeal of this style of game.

About once a month add the new music you’ve read about/seen on the charts to your playlists! Listen to it and decide if it’s your jam. If not: shrug, remove it from your playlist, move on your way. If it is, congrats! You found new music! You can - and should - do this with all your media!

It’s SO EASY to get out of your pop culture bubble. For music, do this! - Find 2-3 sites that cover music (I use NPR Music, Pitchfork, and Bandcamp Daily.) Spend 10 mins each day reading about new music and pay attention to music that’s highly regarded. - Do the same thing with the Billboard charts!

We had hot spots, cold spots, lights that would turn on/off, rooms where people physically could not stay (any students who went in to study or employees who went in to shelf read would leave within 15 mins), and of course: the sounds of people singing and/or sobbing somewhere in the stacks.

Gilmore Girls *is* an all time great tv show, tho, and incredibly important in tv history. I maintain if seasons 6 and 7 didn’t exist its spot would be much higher. We can argue that anime deserves more recognition and deserves to be on this list without trashing other genuinely deserving shows.
