Suárez missed some time with a knock early & has 19 starts. Not going to actually add up the minutes they've played together vs not, but ballpark it's around 70% of the possible minutes in MLS play

Asked if there was any chance for Louis Munteanu to be fit for Wednesday, & Weiler says no. No word yet on the severity of the knock Hosei Kijima picked up tonight.

Weiler said he thought DCU might have had penalties over incidents with Kijima & Baribo, but ultimately says DCU has to accept the referee's call. (? from @joseumana.bsky.social)

René Weiler noted that DCU did have the game's first chance, & that it was "a really bad moment" to concede to Miami due to their hunger to get better results. "The moments when they scored goals were horrible" for DCU, adds Weiler, citing that goals 2 & 3 came right before & after halftime.

DCU let their guard down a few times against Inter Miami, who landed haymakers each and every time they did. Messi and Suárez both struck twice as United fell to a 4-0 loss to the Herons. Your Green Line Soccer gamer is live:

Messi, Suarez punish DC United in loss at Inter Miami
Miami's legendary players did what they do, with United having no answer.

I mean, they're gonna play Messi and Suarez together regardless, the manager's job in Miami is to write their names on the team sheet and say nice things to them. Lesser players would have scored 3 of the goals tonight. DCU's defending was the bigger problem than chance generation.

Orlando doing them a favor to take a late lead over Columbus, though obviously the 6-point gap is the bigger deal by a lot

Losing 4-0 is bad, but losing 4-0 while Cincinnati & the Red Bulls are winning, & while Columbus is on course to get a draw...tough night for DCU. Could have pulled into a 4-way tie spanning 8th-11th place, but will likely fall to 13th, with a 6-point gap to the red line.

At the last Austin FC home game, an Austin FC supporter was tossed from the stadium for wearing an Abolish ICE shirt, days after ICE shot a man in Austin a couple miles from the stadium. Supporter groups have tried to have a dialogue with the FO, but are unsatisfied. So tonight…

Well guys I don't know if D.C. United is going to win this one. As with all 5 of the goals they've conceded to Miami this year, it's avoidable. Multiple chances to get out of that spell of danger, but bravery to block shots isn't all you need.

#USWNT head coach Emma Hayes: "I'm frustrated. I'm disappointed. But I'm not deterred." "I think we're much closer to them than we were three years ago definitely." Hayes was happy with the chances her team created, but not the poor finishing. Players said the finer details were lacking early.

USWNT 'frustrated' but 'not deterred' by loss to world champions Spain
USWNT coach Emma Hayes lamented her team's lack of goalscoring in a 2-0 loss to Spain on Saturday, but saw signs of progress ahead of next year's World Cup.

More and more, Miami is dropping Berterame on the left to turn their 433 into a 442, which is a) a nice hat-tip to Kimito Nono's early impact in MLS, and b) slowing DCU's attack down a lot.

Jason Anderson @jasondcsoccer.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
Did DCU play badly in this first half? No, not really. Final-third execution lacking, but I think they get that Kijima penalty shout like 95% of the time. But 2 moments — the 1st collective, the 2nd with Messi's only real moment of note — mean it's 2-0. That's life with the talent gap here.

Jason Anderson @jasondcsoccer.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
Miami with a pretty textbook how-to on how to deal with DCU's lower-block 442: pull them one way, swing it the other. The flick-on & finish might have been more hopeful than anything else, but none of it happens if Miami isn't so quick in switching the point of attack.

USWNT falls 2-0 to Spain after poor start
The USWNT's midfield issues were apparent in the first half, and a valiant comeback attempt came up short.

I'll give the USWNT this: this 2nd half has left Spain tired, which is why they're doing a ton of grabbing and fouling rather than proper defending. Spice for the 2nd round in Philly on Tuesday.

It's tempting to say that the missed penalty deflated the USWNT here, but really I think it's the Spain triple sub letting them stabilize after so much trouble in the 2nd half.
0341
Jason Anderson @jasondcsoccer.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Ashley Sanchez is among 3 USWNT subs getting instructions at the bench. Spain have 3 subs of their own who have been ready to sub on for like 3 minutes now.

Jason Anderson @jasondcsoccer.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Credit where it's due: much better from the USWNT since halftime, as their adjusted, higher press is really giving Spain fits. IMO the starting 11 & the lack of preparedness in defensive transition is on the coaches, but they've also clearly made smart adjustments to their structure to set this up.

Obviously there's nothing Hayes can do about Coffey & Girma being out in & of itself. If anything her comments put fair pressure on Chelsea to improve how they look after Girma. What you can do is assemble an 11 that makes up for their absence rather than field one that has had this problem before

Jason Anderson @jasondcsoccer.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Fundamentally I do not think this is a viable USWNT 11 against any top ~8 opponent. It requires 10/10, all-time-best execution in possession because you don't have the ability to win the ball back or slow Spain in transition in the spine of the team. National teams do not ever get 10/10 execution.

Heaps and Lavelle in the same midfield creates very little rest defense through the middle third and Lily Yohannes certainly is not the player to mitigate that. A common thread through the last year.

It's fair to say the 2020 and 2021 Spirit didn't get much work on much other than possession patterns, but Burke was hardly alone in landing on 10 and not LW for her. Lind deserves a lot of credit in seeing beyond simply putting her out there and hoping it'd work.

This is correct. The penalty is 25% of how far over the threshold you are. For example, a team whose net transfer spending is $705,000 would be $100,000 over, so their cap space would be cut by $25,000.
