Let’s save the energy for problems that actually need solving.

As an engineer and founder, my core job is filtering out noise to focus on real-world systems, actionable data, and meaningful human impact. Superficial rebranding doesn't spur innovation, lower mortgage rates, or train the next generation of engineers. It’s pure distraction.

That turns HOMES into SHAME (Superior, Huron, America, Michigan, Erie).

For decades, students have learned the Great Lakes acronym: Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, Superior. Now, amidst real economic headwinds, shifting immigration policies, & critical challenges facing our workforce, time is being spent trying to rename Lake Ontario to "Lake America."

We’ve been encultured to think that deep networks are bottomless pits of appetite—if a model fails, just feed it more data. But the physics of production AI have changed. Throwing scale at a corner-case problem doesn't fix it. Read full blog: medium.com/@jasoncorso/...

Startup founders are told to keep board meetings fast and metric-driven. My take? It's a massive mistake. If you don't spend 60–120 minutes going deep on a single challenge, your advisors will just pattern-match based on unrelated companies. Detail matters. Read more: medium.com/@jasoncorso/...

Disagree and Commit is the hardest shift for technical founders who are used to being right. If you're still second-guessing a team decision 2 weeks later, you're the friction. My take: Conviction > Certainty. Read the full essay on navigating constructive confrontation: medium.com/@jasoncorso/...

Three months into the Technical Academic Founder (TAF) series. This week #15 is a Redux of the first 6 essays: a roadmap for starting, fundraising, and operating a startup with a specific emphasis on technical founders and academic founders. Full piece here: medium.com/@jasoncorso/...
The TAF series provides experience-based discussion covering the essential pillars of starting, fundraising, and operating a startup specifically targeted to technical founders and academic founders. This week’s essay (#15) is a redux of the first six installments from earlier in 2026. This visual, generated by Gemini, is a mashup of the visual mastheads for each of the first six essays!

I just finished Alien Clay by Adrian Tchaikovsky. What a book! I can't stop thinking about one thing: what happens when you strip away every assumption about how a system should work? Highly recommend the book; and reflecting on its meaning about the systems in which you play, live, work, etc...

Valuation isn't a math problem; it's a narrative one. 📊 Culture shock: academics think about money in terms of costs; founders need to value a dream. My new weekly essay in my Technical Academic Founder series is live: medium.com/@jasoncorso/...

I loved the DC cherry blossoms so much I built some LEGO-blossoms for my desk. 🌸 The twist: Modern AI is exactly like this—a "bricolage" of fragmented tools and messy data. The "pipeline" is dead. Long live the random walk. Read why here: medium.com/@jasoncorso/...

On a long drive last night, I was geeking out with Claude on how to evolve my orgmode configuration. Really dig the voice-to-voice dialogue. Two-plus hours into it, Claude seemed to get bored and basically told me "we're done." Is Anthropic business-logic or is a reward to get to the point...
