It’s a sad time for data nerds with the shuttering of 538.

When I’m not working at my desk or making music, I’m probably outside with a pitchfork and shovel. This is the 30ft long horse manure compost pile I turn weekly. Dump the fresh stuff on the left, take the cooked stuff from the right. Makes a great soil amendment!

Got the horses moved in to the new barn just before the big rain/freeze hits.

Beautiful blue sky today before a week of rain and freezing again.

Google Chrome could save me a ton of time if command+shift+A would put cursor focus in the search box. What’s the point of a keyboard shortcut that requires the mouse?

What is up with Gatorade caps recently? They’ve gotten super hard to open.

Quick attempt at The Veldt. There’s something funky going on with notes sounding a bit garbled, like they’re changing pitch mid note. Will have to spend more time learning the OXI One to see what I might have done wrong.

Do you ever look at the lottery numbers and think, “Yeah, there’s no way I would have picked those”?

25 years ago, I was on the Windows Shell team at Microsoft and was in charge of testing the time/date control panel in multiple versions of Windows. We all held our breath as 1999 rolled to 2000 and nothing happened.

My son Dylan is 21 and autistic. He works in a record distribution warehouse with musicians and gets to listen to music all day. He started a SubStack about the music and artists he enjoys. If you want to broaden your musical horizons, please give this a shot. dj0221.substack.com/p/the-best-o...

Having fun with the MCO mk2 from ALM Busy Circuits paired with a Happy Nerding MMM VCF. Sequenced one of my favorite trance classics here. Added a touch of delay from the Disting for sparkle. #synthsky #trance

Here’s an old jam on the Moog BFAM. This was the engineering build at Moogfest 2016. Off screen is a Disting quantizing pitch and various modules handling delay and reverb. #synthsky youtu.be/r0CDsC62XyY?...

Woodworking and synthesizers go hand in hand. Wood brings a sense of life to the technology. I’ve enjoyed intertwining these hobbies over the years.

Trying the MIDI eurorack thing. Super impressed with the flexibility of the Befaco MIDI Thing v2 and the Tubbutec TRS Bridge so far (though the Bridge needs a black panel option). And kudos to modules like the WarpEx with a TRS MIDI through Jack for chaining!

I’ve kept a bit of #modular gear around, but since moving from a city to a rural area, I’ve missed the community that came along with MOTS jams and find myself focusing much more on keys than modular #synths now.

First Bluesky post. I see some of us are sharing our #eurorack rigs. Here’s my overengineered drum machine.
