Trump: “considers anyone that uses the term, ‘Artificial Intelligence,’ […] THE ENEMY!” In the days following Trump’s demand to rename “AI” to “SI,” Slovenia has seen a run on its top-level domain. Anguilla must be fuming.
The “distracted boyfriend” meme, with the angry girlfriend labeled “Anguilla (.ai),” the distracted boyfriend labeled “Trump Techbros,” and the object of attention labeled “Slovenia (.si).”

NYT tops its obituary with the 1969 photo of “the 5-foot-4 Ms. Hamilton standing beside a head-high stack of printed code developed for the moon landing.” Just recently someone posted that photo. I saw only the bottom few pixels as I scrolled, but immediately recognized it. It’s that iconic.
A tight crop of the iconic Margaret Hamilton photo of her standing next to a stack of printed software code, showing just her shoes.

We’ve reached Hump Day for Negroni Week. For me, the week kicked off early—and quite coincidentally—with a Negroni tasting and history lesson on Sunday. We tasted our way through 11 variations and learned some history along the way—like the Boulevardier is technically not a variation on the Negroni.
Bitters & Bottles' 'Snippy Negroni. Four bottles of cocktail ingredients, silver mixing tin and jigger, and the finished cocktail (a pale yellow-green).

- 1.5 oz James Gin Asian Parsnip
- 1 oz Leopold Bianco Aperitivo
- 1 oz Bordiga Bianco Vermouth
- 3 Dashes Crude "Rizzo" bitters
- Grapefruit peel garnish

DIRECTIONS
Combine ingredients in mixing glass with lots of ice. Stir until well chilled, strain into cocktail glass.

Garnish.

Enjoy!

The Negroni is one of my favorite cocktails. Its classic form (equal parts gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth) is delightful, but what I truly love is using it as a template for building a variety of drinks that (more or less) follow its equal parts base spirit, bitter, and aromatic modifier structure

Erin Reed’s included map of the states that are suing is a stark illustration of the rapidly dwindling number of places in America where transgender people might feel even a modicum of safety. Unsurprisingly, the majority of these states also tend to vote for Democrats.
Map of the US showing the 21 states suing in blue: California, Illinois, Maryland, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Colorado, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Hawai'i, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro ("suing in his own official capacity because his state's attorney general is a Republican").

I think I have a legitimate challenger to John Gruber’s “Dickover of the Week”: The Locavore Guide, which features three dickovers at once, what might be the most ludicrous series of dickovers I’ve seen recently.
The Locavore Guide landing page, with a large oval logo on the upper left, which overlays a teal cookie dialog, and a yellow newsletter signup box overlaying the cookie dialog. Each obscures content; together, they obscure almost the entire page.

(Related, I saw my first age range request dialog a few days ago, from Anthropic’s Claude.)

James Burrows essentially directed my youth and young adulthood. Reading through his credits, I was struck by just how many of my favorite sitcoms he directed. It’s fair to say I’ve seen “Directed by James Burrows” hundreds, maybe even thousands, of times.

Extraordinary effort and stunning results.

Democrats “could redraw anywhere from 10 to 22 additional congressional seats […] if they push hard with redistricting in seven blue and swing states.” A great start, but woefully insufficient. Democrats should carve up a state until it looks like Zendaya.
Sketch of a state with a blue gerrymandered district in the shape of Zendaya's face. The text says "The one so gerrymandered that it now looks like Zendaya, but she is such a tour de force that people like it that way."

After tapping hamburger menu > Settings > Switch account a bazillion times in the Bluesky app, realized I can just tap and hold the avatar image in the bottom navigation bar. Infinite time saved!

This design doesn’t exactly scream “California innovation!” to me—perhaps it needs a Macintosh in Steve’s lap.
Gold/broze coin, with a cross-legged Steve Jobswith his fingers templed down, sitting in front of a California hillside as he stares intently forward. The text around the edge of the coin says “Make Something Wonderful • United States of America • Steve Jobs • California"Time magazine cover of Steve Jobs sitting cross-legged on a wooden floor, with his hands atop a Macintosh that’s on his lap, as he stares intently forward.

After years of “we don’t even wink in the direction of new products,” it’s weird to see Apple executives actively teasing new products. It doesn’t take a marketing genius to figure out five “M”s equals “M5”. The Roman-numeral-V-shaped silhouette of the included video simply rams it home.

A New Age Negroni to kick of Negroni Week. Cheers! jagsworkshop.com/2025/09/negr... #negroni #negroniWeek #cocktails

The late afternoon sun peeks out behind the columns of the Palace of Fine Arts, illuminating it from the rear and reflecting off the lake in front. A green tree to the right contrasts with the blue sky and orange glow.

I recently saw two stories back-to-back that chillingly underscored where we are as a country—and where we’re headed. We’re constantly being told that America’s present is nothing like Germany’s past. So why does it look so damn familiar? jagsworkshop.com/2025/07/conc...
