Looks like someone understands historical materialism. AI is no more “just a tool” than the mechanical loom, the printing press, the personal computer, the gun, or the atomic bomb. Who built it, why it was built, and who controls it matter.
From this follows a simple but compelling consequence: we cannot consider Al to be morally neutral. In reality, every technical tool embodies choices and priorities through what it measures, ignores and optimizes, and how it classifies people and situations. If a system is designed or used in a way that treats some lives as less worthy, or excludes them without the possibility of appeal, then it is not merely a tool "to be used well," since it has already introduced criteria that contradict the
inalienable dignity of the human person. For this reason, ethical discernment cannot be limited to asking whether we are using a system for good or bad purposes; it must also examine how that system is designed and what vision of the human person and society is embedded in the data and models that guide it.

Stop Doing OLAP In Your OLTP Database
You tracked history in your operational table because it felt responsible. Now every query is a temporal lookup and you can't figure out why everything is slow.

“Knowledge Graph = a way of thinking about information. “Graph DB” = a way of storing data on disk. One does not imply the other.
000
Jarrett Meyer @jarrettmeyer.com · 05/05/2026
I do architecture reviews at work. "We need a knowledge graph." Developers go off and implement a graph DB. Stop conflating these. Knowledge graph is a representation paradigm. Graph DB is a storage technology. They are not the same. Especially true when your entire production DB fits in L3 cache.

Does anyone else find it odd that the elevator pitch version of capitalism isn't capitalist? The butcher, baker, and furniture maker are all sole proprietors, meaning there is no separation between the working class and owning class. When the workers are the owners, that's socialism.

Serious ?: Does this mean the next UHC CEO is gonna get paid more than the last one? One dead exec doesn’t change a broken system. The next guy will be exactly the same and claim the position carries more risk than before. If there’s anything insurance understands, it’s modeling risk.
