The Observer review of my new book 'There is No Meant to Be'. 'This innovative memoir is not a tale about coping with trauma or a guide for living with a disability, but an exploration of how to lead a commendable life.' observer.co.uk/culture/book...

Jarred McGinnis’s guide to a commendable life | The Observer
There Is No Meant to Be is a moving and stylistically daring account of the author’s paralysing accident and its aftermath

My soulmate in all literary shenanigans just made me the best advertisement for my book. I'm going to talk to my publisher about getting this bad boy on a billboard over the I-75 in Tampa.

I watched the film adaptation of McCarthy’s ‘Blood Meridian’. Less than impressed. However, Martin Short’s portrayal of the Kid was inspired.

One of my wife’s French friends when finding out who long we’ve been married asked her if I was her first ‘sex boy’. I’m using this title for all administrative forms now. Marital Status: spouse’s sex boy.

I present the most french of french delicacies. Pruneaux fourrés. Some french prune farmers decided the only way to improve their plums was to stuff them with more plums. Pruneaux fourrés are prunes stuffed with prune paste. They are magic.

I needed to look up my French editor's name to make sure I spell it right (his name has so many accent marks it looks like a cactus) and I found this great photo. This was the first event in France at Librairie Le livre et la tortue in Paris. That's pretty much how I remember the event going.

Gethan Dick signed some copies of Water in the Desert, Fire in the Night around Dublin recently. In case you didn't get one, we also have some limited, signed bookplates!
Image is a copy of Gethan Dick's Water in the Desert Fire in the Night, next to a bookplate that looks a bit like a title page. It's been signed by Gethan with the word "Enjoy!". Backdrop looks like burnt floorboards and suits the apocalyptic vibe of the novel.

Whenever my daughters struggle to open a jar, I do it and say 'Raw Power!' #iggypop Now when they need me to open a jar or lid they just shout, 'Papa! I need Raw Power!' I'm not going to lie. It gives me a little boost. 💪

I was listening to Merle Allin talking about his brother GG's artistic development. There was a great line. ‘It was a gradual progression. It wasn’t like he shitting on stage in ’78.’ So, if you need a little reminder that art takes time and patience, there you go.
