Jake Burger is going to help the Rangers in many ways. A Burger strength was also a 2024 TEX weakness: the elevated fastball. Since 2023, Burger's .641 SLG vs the upper-third FB ranks 9th/323. WOW! Last year's Rangers slugged .325 on those pitches (24th) w/ a .183 BA (27th)

Rangers - Cubs, 6/20/07 Sosa playing for TEX vs CHC hit his 600th career HR. He hit it off of Jason Marquis who was wearing Sosa's popular Cubs number 21. Sosa was traded by CHC to BAL for Hairston Jr. and Fontenot. Fontenot (CHC), JHJ (TEX) both played in Sosa's 600th.

Among all players who saw less than or equal to 3.6 P/PA, Corey Seager’s BB% of 9.9% was topped by only Yordan Alvarez’s 10.9%. No only else had a BB% above 8%. This just shows Seager’s (and Alvarez’s) uniquely dangerous contradicting combo of patience and aggression.

Josh Jung told me his dad, Jeff, a longtime HS football and baseball coach in Texas, got him so into sports cards. Jeff was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan because of the nearby minor league affiliate, the San Antonio Dodgers, and loved collecting Dodgers players.

Jon Gray shared with me that he's always wanted to have a 200 IP/200 K season and that is absolutely his goal this year. His career-high in IP is 172.1 (2018, COL) and his career-high in K is 185 (2016, COL).

Dustin Harris told me that when he got traded to the Rangers in September 2020, he didn't even have an agent so he found out because a friend saw a note on twitter. Harris is a great story. He had just one JuCo offer out of HS and made his MLB debut last year.

Sam Haggerty has slashed .263/.355/.452/.807 in his career vs. LHP. On a team that might need a platoon option vs. LHP, he's worth considering. He can play all three OF positions and also has experience at 1B, 2B, and 3B, plus he's a good runner.
