Running spellcheck on a document and it suggested replacing "near realtime route data" to "near mealtime route data". Wow, it definitely knows me well.

I'm sure this has already been discussed, but it occurred to me that our colleagues at NSSL should convert to an all-electric fleet, so that they can have CIWRO emission vehicles.

Spanish funny of the day: When talking about a game or an argument, we say in English "I don't have a dog in this fight." In Mexico, they say "No tengo vela en este entierro"... literally "I don't have a candle at this funeral." 😆

I learned (from Google AI) a handy phrase used in Mexican Spanish: "dar el avión" ("to give the airplane"), meaning to nod along to someone just to get them to shut up, completely ignoring what they are actually saying. For example, "No le digas nada, solo dale el avión." = "nod and say 'Uh-huh'." 😆

Thanks to my friend Ale for reminding me that today is World Sea Turtles Day (Día Mundial de las Tortugas Marinas). I am so fortunate to have been able to swim with these beautiful animals. This one was feeding on seagrass next to a reef and its shell was not only beautiful but excellent camouflage.

Earlier this month, when paying a bill online, I happened to click the "Choose Currency" button for the payment website. The web browser's suggested choices for currency were, um, interesting.
A screenshot from the currency selection pop-over dialog on a payment website. It has the header "Currency" and says "Select your preferred currency to pay with". Below that is a text box to type and search. Below the text box is the top of an alphabetical list of national currencies from around the world. The mouse cursor is in the text box, and a pop-up of browser-suggested items is displayed. The items include "brush", "toothbrush", "filter", "remote", "coffee", and "usb", all of which obviously have nothing to do with the search box intent.
