Enthusiast. Atmospheric Chemistry currently at UMN. I love studying interactions between natural and human systems and how air pollution is created and destroyed. In my spare time, I’m a history nerd, a cyclist, a musician, and a foodie.

A Karl Rove quote from a Suskind article in the run up to the Iraq War has always stuck with me, and seems, to me, to explain the right best.

People like you are still living in what we call the reality-based community. You believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality. That's not the way the world really works anymore. We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you are studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors, and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.

This is true *even if* the expert supports the Leader - the mere fact of their empiricism means they might differ in the future. That’s why even sympathetic experts get chased out of the modern right, as Hannah Arendt noted.
