Anyone have a calendar handy? What night is it?

Hey a Poulin just scored for the home team at Place Bell. It's like I never left.

Sasha Pastujov has been really, really impressive the last two games for the Rocket. Easily the most dangerous guy on the ice and has two points so far today.

Game 1/?? Feels good to be back. Also, of note. They changed the banners from against the back wall to more suspended… and there’s an empty space there. 👀

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 9h

Yeah. The original team releases had more games missing but they’ve been updated on the schedule so that’s better at least.

000

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 13h

I’m more confused why the networks didn’t pick up all the Canadian team games, which is somewhat surprising. But then again maybe the PWHL wanted to avoid the TSN Premium and Sportsnet+ streaming games behind a paywall (other than Prime, of course)

100

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 14h

Yeah. If it’s a start of a trend that’s worse. The goal should be more games on TV (which like I said due to the inventory and HNIC there are).

100

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 14h

I doubt it. These are games that will feature American teams or late at night. Maybe the Vancouver games but YouTube is not more accessible than actual TV to people who aren’t already fans.

010

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 14h

I mean yes in a way. The more games on TV, the better.

100

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 14h

Is this a safe space? While PWHL games on YouTube in Canada may be great for some because of accessibility, it means the games are not on actual TV, which is bad.

230

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Is 24 games too many? Maybe. But the alternative is 12, which IMO is too few, because you need it to be fair to all teams and home markets. Last year they tested multiple games in the same markets, I expect similar. I think it was miscast as expansion tests vs growing fanbase.

130

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

The PWHL Takeover Tour is not just testing for expansion. They are events to excite markets about the product, league, and sport that wouldn't normally get a chance to do it. It is a league that still is not regularly accessible on TV (especially in the US). What better way to grow?

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

There's something so exciting about knowing how I will be spending the next seven months now that the PWHL schedule is out. Looking forward to another year of it, and this year will definitely be a bit different.

0141

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

The Victoire confirmed April 3 is not a Takeover Tour game, so... plan accordingly.

040

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

I would bet that April 3's TBA Victoire-Detroit game will be at the Bell Centre. The other TBA games are in-conference and the PWHL stated that all inter-conference games are at a primary or secondary home venue. The other two TBA home dates also have Habs games that night.

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Canadian #PWHL broadcast news: 131 games will be broadcast on TSN (55), Sportsnet (30), Prime (20) and CBC (26) [all Victoire games will also be in French RDS (18)/RadCan (6)/Prime (6)] The remaining 49 games will be available on YouTube in Canada.

This gap between PWHL home openers revealed, Habs season opener and the next Habs game and the rest of the PWHL schedule being announced feels like an afront to me, personally.

That’s all they have. They can’t win on policy so they have to campaign on fear.

000

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Kreider got so mad at Roslovic there because no one is supposed to touch Canadiens goaltenders when he's on the ice. Except him.

It's how you recover. Everyone will have some turnovers.

060

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

You may think Phillip Danault is past his prime but he just played an extended shift with the four worst defensive players in the Habs lineup against Toronto's top line and came away with no goal against.

2221

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

The start of the game brought some (negative) flashbacks but the Habs settled in and look much, much better.

091

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

If they can figure out the first five minutes of games, that'd be great.

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

As the team gets better, the bar gets higher. He's still a bottom pairing D but there's more competition and more urgency. I'm not saying he doesn't bring other useful things to the table, but there are other ways to get that as well. He has improved, how much more is there?

191

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

There has never been a bigger gap between fan appreciation for a player and role to the team as Arber Xhekaj is becoming. Xhekaj was a perfectly fine bottom pairing defender when the team was rebuilding (and genuinely one of the organization's best stories, possibly ever) (1/2)

He was followed around by the documentary crew who does the embedded Habs series, and they asked him what his shooting percentage was at one point and he said "I know it's high, 8%?" And when they told him it was 12.5% at the time, he said "I need to shoot more"

The best moments in Expos history ended with a game named "Blue Monday" and having the best team in baseball in the only year the World Series was cancelled.

The Blue Jays keep giving me new ways for me to hate myself for ever loving baseball. Do you know how hard that is? I grew up with the EXPOS for crying out loud.

This might be a lukewarm take at best, but Chris Kreider will be a fan favourite in Montreal by December at the latest

1200

Jared Book @jaredbook.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

Chris Kreider said that before Martin St-Louis was hired by the Canadiens, he had asked him as a friend to go over film to see what he could pick up. Says he's always been a coach in his eyes, even when they played together.

Kent Hughes points out that what makes Josh Anderson worthy of a leadership role is that he plays for the team. "If you knew how often he played hurt," he said. Says two years ago he wanted to make the playoffs so bad that he played through things after being told to slow down.
