Feels like yet another *thing* ruined by VC. But I'd rather enshitification over whatever we'd call this

really disappointed in @1password.bsky.social's decision to support something that cannot be viewed entirely as supporting a shit individual's views. As a former employee, I'm shocked that this went through. Flagrantly disrespects the values that were held highly there :/

I set up a TV antenna and while sure I don't get a ton of stuff, sure is nice to not have to pay a subscription for stuff

Nothing beats Tokyo's rail or the Shinkansen! So hyped for that, especially* all the way down to Kagoshima! * the kumamoto -> kaghoshima section is closed due to earthquake impact so there's a small chance it'll still be closed in Jan :'(

I continue to be jealous of y'alls rail infrastructure

I do wish that bsky somehow could make it easier to find groups of people, even years later I still feel like I only have a very small circle of stuff interesting to me

Is the frame still flimsy feeling? My biggest regret with buying a laptop from y'all is it feels like my laptop will fall apart if I put any pressure on it accidentally (not to mention the well-known whole "press near the trackpad and it clicks" problem...)

It turns out that when your marketing plan is “hahaha, we’ll destroy humanity and your future” people don’t like that very much

I am mostly done implementing crypto/passkey, but now I need YOUR help collecting real-world traces for its test suite! Please go to help-test-crypto-passkey.exe.xyz and click the buttons. It should take 1–3 minutes. 𝘌𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 if you have some unusual Linux-on-the-desktop xkcd 1987 passkey setup.

I'm kinda considering moving to Gitea at some point here instead to be honest, I don't think the momentum is behind Forgejo

010

Jared @jaredallard.dev · 15/08/2026

I don't really understand why Forgejo decided to not support `permissions` in actions and instead opt only for the "Authorized Integrations". Sure, it's more powerful, but it's not exactly easy to use...[^1] Nor does it allow for dropping permissions. [^1]: forgejo.org/docs/latest/...

I know we're all getting desensitized by mass shootings for all the wrong and awful reasons. But this one is different. I can't even begin to describe how it feels to have one happen so close to home.

I know it's not practical, but it'd be nice if politicians were required to post all of their statements onto a government site where people can publicly dunk on them when they say stupid things. again, not practical for a myriad of reasons, but it'd bring me joy

I've heard so many stories like this over the last few weeks. Massive token usage, install some analytics, non technical users spending more, chastise eng team for being behind, finally learn the usage is on tasks easily accomplished on the CPU and that's how engineers would have done it
