This is not recent…when I ran for local office 35+ years ago as a liberal, my mentor, leaving the local stage to join a (famous) dem senator’s staff, told me if I squared up against local developers he’d withdraw his support, because “they have the money.” I didn’t win (duh).

I don’t believe he has the capacity to be or to do better…and I think this has been pretty clear to those of us not similarly incapacitated for years. It makes me glad my dad is gone…he had great faith in our system & in good ultimately triumphing over evil. This would have gutted him.
