RIP, Peter May. Best-selling Scottish crime author, he was one of my favourites, with mysteries set on the Isle of Lewis. He felt that he had one last book in him before retiring. It is "Island of the Dead" and it will be published in January, 2027.

Blessed Beltane! The yellow plum in my back yard appeared 30 years ago as a tiny sapling that had stowed away in another pot. It's a giant now, bestowing its white blossoms on cue every spring.
