Excited to share our new paper on leaf scorching. 🔥Early leaf browning during heat and drought is often interpreted as premature leaf senescence - but it may reflect rapid heat damage. Separating these processes is essential. www.nature.com/articles/s41... @wslresearch.bsky.social

My second PhD paper is out! 🌳 Species composition shapes canopy structure, microclimate, and leaf traits along a beech–oak ecotone. Yet microclimate had little effect on photosynthetic and respiratory thermal acclimation. Worth every challenge in the field! 🏔 www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

would be a perfect summer to monitor in-situ leaf temperatures but as a 3rd-year PhD my only obligation is to write write write... still, would be nice if someone were making use of my big thermocouple datalogger jellyfish monsters... here's an image of one up a Douglas-fir summer 2024

Head of Research Unit Forest and Soil Ecology 90-100% (f/m/d)
You will lead and inspire an internationally recognized Research Unit comprising seven well-established, strong Research Groups and approximately 100 collaborators from around 20 countries. As a distinguished ecologist, you will play an important role in national and international projects focusing on forest or soil science.
