I have been away for a while. Tied up with other things lately. I thought it would be nice to post a lovely sunset view from unexpected place. #sunsets #theunexpeted #journey #roadphotos
I knew the minute we rolled in to park, I was jumping out with my camera and getting a lovely shot of this sunset! I knew exactly how I wanted it.

Another misty morning in #Oregon I love taking photos of trees in the foggy settings 😀 There is something so grounding about the scene especially in #blackandwhite -Janie Lynn

I always love getting different shots of Mt. Shasta! #janielynnfineart #MtShasta #mountains
This one with the seagulls is my favorite. I was so happy to capture flying over Shasta's Peaks.I really wanted to capture the light and the little cloud halo as the sun was going down!

"Companions in the Quiet"-by Janie Lynn Do you feel solitude or connection? #fineart #blackandwhite #landscape
Some places don’t ask for much attention.
Just a quiet roadside, a pale sky, and three bare trees still standing together in the empty field.

I’ve been drawn more and more to these quieter scenes lately—the ones that feel like a pause more than a performance. Stripping this image down to black and white let the shapes, space, and stillness do the talking.

I’m calling this piece “Companions in the Quiet.”
Do you feel more solitude here, or connection?

I called this piece “The Listening Mountain” because it feels like the kind of place where you don’t speak first. You just stand there, breathe, and let the stillness meet you halfway. #blackandwhitephotography  #mountshasta #landscapephotography #fineartphotography
I keep coming back to this view of Mount Shasta.

There’s something about seeing it stripped down to black and white that feels more like a conversation than just a landscape. No color, no distractions—just the lines of the mountain, the weight of the sky, and that dark band of trees holding the foreground together.

There’s a kind of quiet you only find in winter—when the river keeps moving but everything around it goes still. Janie Lynn F.A. #photography #landscape #winter #cabin #nature
I made this photograph along a cold stretch of water in South Dakota, where the last bits of snow held on at the edges and a small cabin waited in the distance like a pocket of warmth.

If you could disappear to a riverside cabin for a few days, what would you want more—company or solitude?

Sometimes the loudest moments are the quiet ones. "Horse Hill Silence" by Janie Lynn
These horses stood on the ridge above us in South Dakota, barely moving, just resting in the winter stillness. I remember how soft the snow felt against the sky and how small everything else seemed in that moment.

There’s a calm that comes from watching animals simply exist in their own world—no rush, no noise, just presence.

(Bridging Horizons)by Janie Lynn This is the McCullough Memorial Bridge in Coos Bay, photographed as the sky shifted into those last vivid tones of the day. I was drawn to the way the structure turns into a silhouette—just shape, line, and color—and how the water below quietly holds all of it.
Sometimes a bridge is more than a way across.
photographed as the sky shifted into those last vivid tones of the day. I was drawn to the way the structure turns into a silhouette—just shape, line, and color—and how the water below quietly holds all of it.

I think of this one as a photograph about transition: the end of a day, the beginning of something else, that in‑between place we all know so well.

Do you usually feel more energized or more reflective at sunset?

A foggy stand of trees, layered with digital textures and my own moon photo—Maggie Taylor’s collage style inspired this dreamlike mood. What draws your eye in this scene? By janielynnfineart #PhotoCollage #NatureInspiredArt #DreamlikeLandscapes #ArtProcess #MaggieTaylorInspired
A dreamlike scene of 4 tress standing alone in the mist. Adding textures and an image of a quarter moon that sits directly in the middle of the sky. Soft orange hues add the vision.

Layering textures and soft light, I tried to create a space where you can pause and just breathe for a moment. What details in nature help you slow down and reconnect?

A photo in my folder from a year go that completely got overlooked. I created it in black and white because the light and contrast just worked to much better. I do love black and white in certain instances.
I ran across this photo I took last year in our travels. Turned to black and because it is much more appealing with the light. So many photos can get so overlooked sometimes.
