I’m the first day of school mom who rang the school doorbell to drop off the water bottle we forgot to send with him, only to have them ask “oh are you here to bring his indoor shoes?” so back to home I went to get those too. Happy first week of school to parents, you’re doing your best out there.

This morning we attended a funeral, and this evening we attended a wedding. I cried for the grief of a friend I love who lost a parent, and I cried at the joy of watching two friends celebrate their love. The world holds so much grief and joy alike, and it is both good - and a lot - to feel.

Our church had a few folks share stories this past Sunday. A woman who used to clean the church told us that each time she was done she would look back over the clean church and say to herself “There. Now it’s clean for God.” I can’t stop thinking about how gorgeous that is.
