Minister Helen McEntee says it is “completely ridiculous” that a TD who is on maternity leave has to provide a sick cert to ensure they are not met with a financial penalty when they return to work. She called for further reform of the Oireachtas system to remedy the situation.

For a 2nd year in a row, the SocDems think-in has been dominated by a controversy surrounding their Dublin Bay South TD Eoin Hayes. Earlier this month, the Ditch reported that Hayes boasted about cutting 200 tech jobs. He was notably absent from today’s press conference.

Green TD Roderic O’Gorman says Simon Harris has pulled the rug on EV sales and retrofitting with his announcement that there will be some sort of package. He said people who were thinking of investing in a heat pump or EV won’t invest now until supports come in. Says details are needed now.
