I’m tired of these games from Carney that stretch the imagination of what’s “democratic” so he can implement an aggressively pro-corporate agenda without pushback. Could this also be the start of him stacking the senate with people who won’t disrupt his agenda (aka conservatives)? Ugh.

Since Canadians are expected to live, on avg, 8 years longer than Alabamans (81.7 vs 73.8 yrs), we have lots of time to study this further! Canada is far from perfect, but Alabama is no model. And GDP per capita is an important measure, but pleeze don't interpret it as a measure of living standards.

Much of Alabama's higher GDP per capita flows into profits & dividends for the wealthy (incl. owners who don't even live there). It's definitely NOT trickling down to most Alabamans. This is just one more illustration why per capita GDP isn't a good measure of living standards./5

A graphic with quoted text that says: "Avi Lewis will be getting my enthusiastic vote in March, not only because he has the most expansive and well-articulated policies but because he has a real vision of organizing and movement-building to back them up.

As Liberal and Conservative elites seek to push Canadian society further to the right, this is the kind of political and policy vision the country desperately needs: one that actively seeks to expand our democratic horizons; one willing to name and confront the malefactors of great wealth without hesitation or apology."
