The D.C. Board of Elections tossed out $16,000 in fines that had been levied against Janeese Lewis George’s mayoral campaign, rejecting claims from campaign finance regulators that she had impermissibly coordinated with local unions ahead of the June primary.

Today, the DC Council voted to make it easier for residents to access utility affordability programs. People who are eligible for help with their bills shouldn't have to spend hours navigating confusing forms, they should get it automatically. Let’s give people their time back.

In ward after ward, we heard the same thing: Childcare is much too expensive in DC, and it's hurting families. Universal affordable childcare is one of my top priorities, and I'd love to hear your ideas for how we can achieve it together.

Today marks 25 years since September 11. We remember those whose lives were taken, including those killed at the Pentagon, and hold their loved ones in our hearts. We honor all who responded with courage and those who continue to live with the lasting effects.

As I prepare to govern DC, it’s been a big help to talk to mayors like Baltimore’s Brandon Scott about the challenges our cities share and how we can solve them. I always appreciate our conversations about public safety and housing, and will forgive Brandon for being an Orioles fan!
