Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 09/02/2025Which lives are being ruined? Patients, doctors or PAs? It is very difficult for you as the mother of a PA to be clear about this. Anyway I am willing to bet your daughter’s life is not being ruined. You know a PA who was responsible for a death is still working in another practice? 000
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 08/02/2025I doubt that this will happen as people are only becoming aware of it now and I think the lobby against lowering standards in healthcare will grow. This isn’t ’hateful’ ‘bullying’ or ‘bigoted’ it is simply preferring a qualified doctor over a PA or AA. It is about knowledge, standards and safety. 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 08/02/2025I can see how you would like this debate to go away and for those who are opposed to the unsafe practice of replacing doctors with vastly less trained PAs and AAs to be silenced. 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 07/02/2025Also if you think I have the wrong case please enlighten me with the case we are referring to? 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 07/02/2025Wow. I am an apologist for hate speak and bullies because I believe you need to be a qualified doctor to insert and bolt into a persons head without their being able to consent? Nope. Where I am from that is so obvious it is called common sense. 200
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 06/02/2025On the contrary I’m v concerned. Procedure done by PA- under Consent Form 4 ie patient could give not consent- also signed by PA And no evidence of senior involvement for a Left Frontal Bolt insertion in a patients head. Forgive me if I chose to be concerned for the patient. 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 06/02/2025What was this PA doing? ‘What qualifications and trainings does the PA have to place something inside someone's skull.’? It is terrifying that PAs who have 2 years training are performing brain surgery! Look it from the other side if you can. 100
Reposted by Jane DoddsPhil Whitaker @pwhitakerwriter.medsky.social · 03/02/2025The curious case of Sarah and her sinuses, and what it reveals about the lamentable wrong-headedness among the leadership of England's NHS. My piece in this week's @newstatesman.com www.newstatesman.com/politics/hea...newstatesman.comNHS England has no idea about GPsReform will only happen when the organisation confronts how lamentably wrong-headed it has been. 075
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 02/02/2025I seriously doubt doctors are worried about their status. 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 02/02/2025I really haven’t seen the vilifying you are speaking about but I do think there is an issue with PAs being paid band 7 at the get go when far more qualified staff who are held responsible and are regulated are paid less - midwives ANP, paramedics and doctors etc 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 02/02/2025It is now the Royal Colleges (representing 1000’s of doctors and responsible for standards) highlighting the problem not just a small group. People who are not doctors and who only have two years education are dangerously replacing doctors GPs anaesthetists, surgeons it cannot continue safely. 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 02/02/2025Can’t you see this is a smear? You are saying doctors are trying to frighten the public, and just worried about their jobs and status. 200
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 02/02/2025I think people would want the job. It is very well paid. Most science graduates do not get paid that much. 000
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 02/02/2025I think they should retrain with GEM. That way they would be properly qualified. 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 02/02/2025Ask PAs what sort of degree they have &where they got it from and if they applied for medicine first. PAs who go onto GEM say their first degree was of little to no consequence. PA is a two year course, easy to get on I can’t see how you think this makes them well qualified professionals. 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025I certainly won’t be happy if people are left with nothing but I do not see that what is happening now can continue. 200
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025I expect those in permanent posts in GP practices will remain but will have to work to scope/ be redeployed but again work to scope which seems correct to me. 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025Are you suggesting a doctor wrote a post suggesting all PAs should be shot? 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025In it in the 2 years light vs 5 years heavy. They just do not have the solid base to replace doctors. I know you say they are not doing that but all the evidence I see shows they are often working way outside their education and are replacing doctors. 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025I have looked up mysticsid1 and he is clearly a far right loon and certainly not a doctor. I actually already had him blocked. 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025I see plenty of PAs doing that on Twitter. I find doctors are more reasoned and fact based normally. Doctors are interested in patient safety and maintaining gold standard medical education. 200
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025Will I see these bombs on your thread? Because I hear about such things but never see them. 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025You can’t say the argument is spurious in any meaningful way. If they were simply fulfilling a role on a MDT they would have a specific role and they would never be on dr rotas. 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025Well as there were under 200 PAs until 2015 your 20 years doesn’t amount to much. It is only since 2016 numbers have been rising rapidly and actually ARRS fees to GPs only since 2019. 000
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025Often seen further down page: ‘If you lack the formal academic qualifications needed to enter a postgraduate or post-experience degree, there are several alternative routes to follow - some based on experience. Contact the Future Students Enquiry Team for more information.’ 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025I understand you don’t want to believe your daughter has been sold a pup but she has and so have the rest of us. 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025It really isn’t. It is happening and if you seriously research it you will find it is the case. 000
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025You are not really thinking about this from a patient perspective. We deserve qualified doctors surgeons and GPs. 000
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025What treated by unqualified staff. It is certainly is. 200
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025Well you haven’t tried applying - it is easier than you assume. 000
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025Doctors make mistakes following highly selective 5/6 year training followed by years of in work education training and difficult exams. So would less able and far less educated people be safer? What do you think? 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025From Kings College Hospital trust meeting minutes. 10 PAs work in the department, performing neurosurgical procedures, including ICP bolt insertion. 000
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025The Royal Collège of GPs who set GP standards must also be bigoted in your opinion as they have said that there should be no PAs working in GP. 000
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025Good faith is all very well in some places but it is not good qualifications and serious medical education is far more important in a patient context. 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025If anyone should be ashamed of themselves it is people who are pushing non doctors on an unsuspecting public. We are all guinea pigs to a dangerous experiment. 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025They are working as surgeons with a 2 year qualification and no post graduate exams. God help us all. 110
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025How is it bigoted to want to have qualified doctors on doctors rotas and in GP? How is it bigoted to want a qualified surgeon or anaesthetist operating on me? You are both rude and biased. 600
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025I could go on the information is there and easily obtainable. 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025This is from Swansea University: 2:1 undergraduate Bachelors or integrated Masters degree in a non-healthcare or non-biosciences subject, with relevant work experience and demonstration of values in line with the NHS constitution. These will be considered on an individual basis. 100
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025This is from NHS website on PAs note USUALLY and understand what that means: You’ll usually need a bioscience-related first degree to get onto one of the training programmes. 000
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025This is from Manchester Uni: Applicants with equivalent or non-standard qualifications will be considered on an individual basis. 000
Jane Dodds @janedodds.bsky.social · 01/02/2025I have stacks of evidence of PAs working in ways that are completely unjustifiable. This must be sorted out by the Leng inquiry. Your daughter should go to study medicine if she is able. She will be paid less but she will be better for patients and will be able to understand the difference. 100
