I have lived in NL for a few years now but never got used to EU sizes - still keep ordering wrong, keep returning stuff. Couldn't find an app that wasn't stuffed with ads. Couldn't use google when i didn't have connectivity. apps.apple.com/us/app/what-size/id6757195133

WHATSIZE app screenshot showing a brand-to-brand size conversion. The app recommends ASOS UK 14 based on the user's input, is fully accessible with a note that the brand tends to run large.

You know USA is closer to Russia via Alaska. But Greenland makes an ideal launch platform for Europe. Hmmmm.

If I had a Time Machine and showed this email 3 years ago folks would have said - science fiction
A long vertical screenshot of the WIRED Daily email newsletter. The top story features a photo of Elon Musk with the headline “Elon Musk Wants ‘Strong Influence’ Over the ‘Robot Army’ He’s Building.” Other stories include: “AI Models Get Brain Rot, Too,” “ChatGPT’s Horny Era Could Be Its Stickiest Yet,” “The Long Tail of the AWS Outage,” “What Happens if the Internet Goes Dark?,” “This ‘Privacy Browser’ Has Dangerous Hidden Features,” “No, ICE (Probably) Didn’t Buy Guided Missile Warheads,” “Historians Don’t Think a US Civil War Is Likely—but They’re Still Nervous,” and “GM’s New ‘Eyes-Off’ System Lets AI Take the Wheel While You Doze Off.”
Each headline has a thumbnail image, and the newsletter ends with social media icons and a footer inviting readers to subscribe to WIRED.

Brilliant conversation going on in Reddit between both sides of the aisle www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/...
Screen shot of Reddit post with this comment - Are you familiar with the Budapest Memorandum? Ukraine already paid for our aid by giving up their nuclear arsenal after the fall of the Soviet Union.
Technically, we only provided
"assurances" that their sovereignty would be respected, as did the UK and Russia, which are not legally binding. But it's a pretty dick move to say, "give up your nukes and we promise you'll be safe" then leave them high and dry when they get invaded.
ETA: good on you for trying to change your mind. That's some seriously tough shit to go through

If Trump is the new Hitler then Starmer is the new … Anybody know of a good (left wing) Churchill?

I think Labour got in on one small fact - they weren’t conservative. Everything else was up for discussion.
Screen print of UK gov response to survey asking for a return to Europe:

Parliament will consider this for a debate
Parliament considers all petitions that get more than 100,000 signatures for a debate
Waiting for 1 day for a debate date
Government responded
This response was given on 19 November 2024
The Government was elected on a manifesto that made clear there will be no return to EU membership. However, we are determined to reset the UK-EU relationship, putting it on a more solid footing.

All this Musk stuff is starting to give ‘ the thick of it vibes’ If you never saw the series ‘behind the scenes of British politics, - a taster (swearing warning) youtu.be/K6Hf_BKEfnY?...
The image a screenshot or still from a news pretend news broadcast, showing a political campaign moment. There is a "LIVE" indicator and location text reading "Leamington Spa" in the corner. The main image shows someone giving thumbs up gestures next to text that reads "IAM BENT". Below this is a chyron or text banner indicating "LEAMINGTON BY-ELECTION" and "day of campaigning". At the bottom of the image is a red banner with white text reading "THE THICK OF IT", from the British comedy series of that name.

Press had fun photographing Musk at AFD far right rally in Germany
The image shows a political rally or event for the AfD (Alternative für Deutschland) party in Germany. There is a large video screen displaying a close-up of Elon Musk speaking, alongside the AfD party logo and slogan "ZEIT FÜR DEUTSCHLAND" (Time for Germany) on a blue backdrop. The foreground shows a crowd of supporters waving German flags, with many people holding up phones to record the event. one of the flags is in front of Musks lip making him have a hitler style moustache.

Saturday afternoon mood.
A phot of my black Labradoodle, called Luna, lies sprawled out on her back on a grey couch. She has a curly, fluffy coat and is wearing red collar. The dog is completely relaxed in a comfortable sleeping position, with her legs stretched out. Her curly fur creates a striking contrast against the smooth texture of the couch upholstery. She is grinning.

How to spot a bot. 1/5 Username Red Flags: - Long strings of random numbers - Generic format like "numbers.bsky.social" - No attempt at a personalized name
This image shows a social media profile from bsky.app (Bluesky social network). The profile belongs to a user with the handle "4171952.bsky.social" and has a pink circular avatar with a white "@" symbol. The profile statistics show 12 followers, 2 following, and 132 posts.

The image displays several posts from this account, arranged chronologically:
- A recent post from 19 days ago saying "I hope your Sunday is going well."
- Multiple posts from 1 month ago expressing political views
- One post stating "I am hungry"
- The posts show typical social media engagement metrics (replies, reposts, and likes)

The interface uses a dark theme with white and gray text, and includes standard social media features like a "Follow" button and a three-dot menu for additional options. The layout is similar to other social media platforms, with posts displayed in a vertical feed format.

The profile appears to be relatively new or low-engagement, given the follower count and post history. Each post has minimal engagement metrics, with most showing single-digit or zero interactions.

1. Be a Critical Consumer of Info Verify, Verify, Verify: Always cross-check information from multiple sources, especially those concerning political topics or events. Nothing at face value. Look for reputable news organisations known for journalistic integrity and fact-checking processes.
An educational infographic showing five sequential steps for navigating social media manipulation, displayed as vertical oval rings in different colors (blue, green, yellow-green, yellow, and orange) connected by arrows on a dark background. Each ring represents a stage: 1) 'Verify Information' (blue) - Cross-check sources and facts, 2) 'Recognize Manipulation' (green) - Identify emotional triggers, 3) 'Identify Fake Accounts' (yellow-green) - Scrutinize profiles and interactions, 4) 'Understand Algorithms' (yellow) - Diversify content exposure, and 5) 'Protect from Exploitation' (orange) - Report suspicious activities. Small grey dots are scattered around the rings, and curved arrows indicate the flow between stages.
