I completely agree with you! But I have taken on a project (just for my own sanity) that I will call and thank any R official who says anything negative about Trump. I only applaud them only for the specific comment they make. I have no illusions that they are changing fundamentally.

I just called Senator Collins’ office 202-224-2523. I thanked her for writing a letter to the White House with Sen Patty Murray (Dem). The letter indicated they believe that the WH was acting outside the law when seizing Congressional funds. I applauded her and encourage to continue speaking out…

I am not sure we have the luxury of waiting till the midterms to try and effect an impeachment. I think we need to watch for cracks in the R’s solid wall and contact possible Congressfolk who could be “turned”. I have observed several. See the next post for a list.

If these were normal times, you would be correct but these times are not. In a shut down, T gets to decide “essential” vs “ non-essential” depts. Also, what would be the mechanism for re-opening the govt?

My only thought about Schumer’s vote is that if the govt shuts down, T may decide not to reopen. When the gov is shut, he gets to decide what departments are “essential” and which are “non-essential”. If these were normal times, a shutdown would trigger negotiations. But, these are not normal times…
