You could be forgiven for thinking that our entire way of doing politics is actually so utterly and openly dependent upon deception and fraud that it would more or less cease to be viable if you weren’t allowed to lie to people on an industrial scale.

Probably the most important but neglected scandal about Mandelson. Epstein was close to Peter Thiel. Thiel had secret meetings with Cummings and Johnson before Palantir’s 100m contract Mandelson’s Global Counsel was pitching Thiel’s Palantir to Starmer. What a carousel of cronyism

Actually he’s exactly the sort of gormless stuffed shirt that the establishment loves and trusts to do its bidding; no principles, no direction, no vision. The perfect empty vessel through which to rule, until he becomes spent and useless and is ultimately discarded for somebody even worse.

In the 1970s, UK discovered oil/gas in North Sea. Thatcher onwards, money squandered on tax cuts for corporations/rich. Now ... crisis. Norway heavily taxed oil/gas. Now, $1.9trn sovereign fund. Its income funds national budget. Appeasing rich/corporations costs the future.

UK Govt inheriting poor value assets due to bad handling of PFI contracts. PFI is part of corporate welfare. For every £1 of private investment govt repays more than £6 + more for services. Cheaper for govt to borrow. Yet govt is entering new PFI deals lasting to 2052-53.
