Comic book writers and artists! I'm applying for a grant through my school district to get more materials for my 4th/5th grade Comic Book Club students. From last year, I already have really nice erasers, some blue artist pencils, & a few light pads.

Question for SDCC panelists: Has anyone ever gotten someone in to SDCC on a panelist guest badge? If so, does the panelist guest also have access to enter the exclusives lottery for Comic-Con? I know pro guests do, but I wasn't sure about panelist guests. #SDCC #ComicCon #educomix

I decided to use one ounce of critical thinking skills, and I called the bookstore that organized the Chicago Independent Bookstore Day buses last year. Although I didn't get an exact date, I did find out that tickets will be going on sale NEXT MONTH. My watch has... paused.

Librarians, what clear material do you use the cover books to protect against wear and tear? I know it's called contact paper (but please lmk it goes by another name), but what brand/place do you get? I need to cover 20 pb books that are 6" × 0.4" × 9" and want to do it affordably but also well.

I just finished my very first book nook! I would definitely invest in some fine tweezers for the next one & would take the instruction booklet's advice to do all the gluing first, but I think it turned out lovely. I did take a little artistic license on the book covers and pictures, though. 😁

Owl Bookstore book nook. A small dollhouse size bookstore craft. Owl Bookstore lit up on top with flowers around the top. Large front window and glass door showing a variety of bookshelves. Framed photos in the window as well as an open book, a violin, and a camera.

Close up of framed photos. One with a white woman with brown hair in white wedding dress and Wonder Woman crown smiling and pointing to her husband, a white man with brown hair in a black tux with a red vest open to show the Superman symbol on the shirt beneath. Another picture shows the same white woman with a white little girl with blonde curls holding a stuffed Bluey toy

Inside the book book bookstore, a violin, an open book on a stand, and a camera sit on a front display shelf. Behind it is a bookshelf with three books facing out - animal rescue friends: friends forever, animal Rescue friends: finding home, Seeker society

I still don’t regard myself as a technical master of either, though I’ve gotten a lot more polished with time. But it’s the essence of punk rock, or whatever you want to call it: don’t worry if it’s good. That comes with time. What you can be now is honest. Honesty is what people respond to in art.

Ripley is done with her surgery and on the good drugs. The surgeon had to improvise a bit because in addition to her luxated patella, she also had a torn ACL and a torn meniscus. Woof. Luckily, the recovery time and rehab plan is similar, and we look forward to having her home tomorrow. 🩷
