The fastest way to level up might be the skill you've been ignoring. @jamon.dev has done React Native for a decade, but its native side runs on C++. Learning it wasn't starting over -- just one new language in an environment he already knew cold. Watch here: youtu.be/Ny5FavLMhO0

Stop thinking about mobile apps like web apps -- think about them like games. @jamon.dev spent a year obsessing over frame rates on old hardware. Games don't drop frames, so why should your app? That mindset infects everything you build. Watch here: youtu.be/Ny5FavLMhO0

Learning a new language quietly makes you better at the ones you already know. When @jamon.dev picked up Ruby, his PHP got sharper too. New tools open new pathways, so you start seeing your old work in ways you simply couldn't before. Watch here: youtu.be/Ny5FavLMhO0

If you keep grabbing the keyboard, you're training your team to let you. This came up with @jamon.dev: jumping in to just do it feels helpful, but you teach people to hand it back. Then you wonder why you're drowning in everyone's work. Watch here: youtu.be/Ny5FavLMhO0

Building a business while burning the candle at both ends has a real cost. @jamon.dev started his company with a baby at home, working late night after late night. The business grew, but his health slid -- a tradeoff worth being honest about. Watch here: youtu.be/Ny5FavLMhO0

Being able to direct your focus changes what you're capable of finishing. @jamon.dev found that once he could actually aim his attention, he made big strides at the company and at home. Starting something and seeing it through is a superpower. Watch here: youtu.be/Ny5FavLMhO0

Your confidence is high and your productivity increases. Your backlog is perpetually nearly empty as you solve the next set of problems. And you own the system. We build it for you.
110
Jamon @jamon.dev · 20/08/2026
You can focus mainly on delivering value with your product and for your users, not focusing so much about what particular agentic system is best and not worrying about quality going downhill, because that’s our job to worry about, not yours.

Jamon @jamon.dev · 20/08/2026
We are also the process engineers. We take the lessons from doing that work and we apply it back up your production line. We train your builders to use the system better. We create new skills and validations and tests and more.

We are the quality engineers. My team inspects it, identifies defects, rearchitects it, polishes it up, and ships it … better performance, security, maintainability, quality. Not just the code, but the whole user experience.

You’re the builder. You prototype a feature. Send it off for an agent to flesh out.

It seems to me that my 30 top-notch mobile devs at Infinite Red are, today in 2026, best deployed further down the production line, as quality engineers and process engineers. I’d like to lay out a vision for you here. Maybe it’ll resonate. Builder -> quality engineer -> process engineer

It's still really fast and it makes future work faster. It's this kind of hybrid human + agent workflow that makes me feel superhuman.
010
Jamon @jamon.dev · 20/05/2026
What's nice is that I am fully qualified to review the code afterward and, not only that, any future agentic work on that system is easier. I understand it better because I did the manual work.
110
Jamon @jamon.dev · 20/05/2026
Then I'll write up a detailed spec and ask the agent for feedback. It almost always finds edge cases I didn't consider and "gets" where I'm going with it. I let the agent take it forward and also have it do the things I usually don't have patience for, like TDD. The grunt work.
210
Jamon @jamon.dev · 20/05/2026
I do it the way I did pre-AI. Finding the relevant code, reading and understanding it, and trying out various ideas. Usually when I'm about 30-50% done, the system is mapped out really well in my mind, and all that remains is execution.
110
Jamon @jamon.dev · 20/05/2026
I have developed a rule of thumb for when it's best to code by hand. If I don't understand the problem super well, I'll start digging in with an agent and gaining familiarity. If the solution after 10-15m isn't something that I feel I could implement myself, it's time to go do it by hand.

One of my favorite stories was when I was a first-time speaker at a Ruby conference in 2014. Gant welcomed me to the speaker dinner with a huge hug (never met the guy beforehand). It instantly disarmed me and made it awesome. Never imagined we'd be business partners a few short years later!

My story is many stories of Gant. At our annual in-person retreat, Gant always makes sure there are musical instruments for the team, and often leads the musicians in jamming together. I think I've played "Margaritaville" with Gant more times than I can count.
