Saw a meme and the joke was "it's One Hundred Years of Solitude", and I'm just going to be real: I've read that book on the recommendations of a lot of people. I thought it was incredibly boring and only got through it by virtue of sheer stubbornness. I think less of anyone who recommends it.

Nine years ago I was working as a beat reporter for my local newspaper and covered a talent show the hometown team didn't win. The comments were as you'd expect. Never had to write about talent shows again, though! Journalism is a funny sort.
