I'd like to think I'm relatively well-rounded (I hope) but this is definitely something that didn't happen when I was growing up and I still feel the deficit from time to time.
(6) Keep Him Away From Adults—Parents, make sure he is never forced to engage in mature conversations about life and the world with people your age or older. Do whatever you can to keep him with his peers as much as possible. If you attend church, for example, make sure he is deeply involved in youth ministry, but never allow him to participate in the men’s ministry in any way.

Fathers, don’t ever bring him along when you spend time with your friends. He never needs to hear adults discussing marriage, work, faith, politics, failure, sacrifice, or responsibility. Again, if you’re in a church, do not ever bring the teenage boys on any men’s treats. Ever.

East LA skyline at dusk, the horizon is orange and fading to indigo. One tall building is in the center of the frame with transmission lines and numerous low buildings with lit windows. On the left raking into the foreground is an arch of the 6th street viaduct.

I dunno, pace Danny Boyle but Soderberg recreated 1905 New York on a Showtime budget for a mere TV series a decade ago.
"We couldn't afford to recreate Fleet Street," Boyle said.
"You have to use photographs and animate them, because it's gone."

AUDIO NERD ALERT: Jon Greasley and I wrote about the recent changes to the ATSC television loudness standards in the CAS Quarterly—Jon taking a victory lap here, I'm happy to throw Gatorade at him.
ATSC Loudness
Spec Update:
A DIALOGUE-GATED
SQUEAKY WHEEL

Here I am again, still ranting about the loudness specs we mix to for broadcast
and streaming. This time though, it actually feels like progress has been made.
The story so far—since the CALM Act took effect in 2012, we’ve all seen loudness spec
sheets from the networks and cable channels specifying a LKFS target our mixes must
conform to. This was based on a solid concept: Adverts are too loud—obnoxiously so,
in many cases. ATSC, the Broadcast Standards Association, authored the document
“A/85: Techniques for Establishing and Maintaining Audio Loudness for Digital
Television,” which laid out the best practices for achieving a more consistent listening
level between shows and commercials and between channels. All loudness
measurement is based on BS.1770, issued by the ITU, and there have always been a
few ways to apply it in a practical sense. The most important distinction is what you
are measuring. In the simplest terms, it’s either going to be the full mix (termed “Full
Program”), or one element of the mix, referred to as the “anchor element,” which is
almost always dialogue.
Ad mixes tried to game the system with tricks such as inserting silence for a moment
to skew the measurement down so the overall level could be boosted. And over the
years, 1770 was updated to be more agile, account for these tricks, and be more
accurate in its measurements. This is where problems started to arise....

Public health responses include case investigation, contact tracing, quarantine, and vaccination campaigns. "These measures incur substantial economic and financial costs, with large initial fixed costs and incremental costs that continue to scale as an outbreak expands," the authors noted.
