I am v happy for this couple, and I wish them all the best. But, they just defied near-lottery-winning odds. Ethically, such stories should come with more detail on just how low r IVF success rates after 40, never mind after 50. apnews.com/article/gree...

Frank McDonald passed. He’s not well known outside of Ireland, but he was a brilliant interpreter of the Irish built environment, one of the first journalists to take climate science and policy as newsworthy, and just a generally interesting man. RIP www.irishtimes.com/ireland/2026...

The international literature is clear: helping young, male offenders, mostly from chaotic/traumatic backgrounds, is neither cheap nor easy. Either money and time is invested NOW or much more money and time is spent later, never mind the lost human potential. www.irishtimes.com/crime-law/20...

Childbirth, like vaccines, is now entangled in a strange cultural space. Two generations of modern medical success obscures how dangerous birth can be for many women. Sadly, hospitals too often feel alienating. Finally, social media broadcasts non-expert authority. www.irishtimes.com/health/2026/...
