As the humanities continue to take a battering, it's worth noting that Andy Burnham is the first UK PM to have studied English (at Cambridge) rather than the usuals - law, economics, etc. Not sure it will save university jobs at Exeter et al, but it's certainly a nice fact to bounce at detractors...
