Why don't politicians ever point out that our welfare bill is still significantly lower as a % of GDP than most comparable European countries? At least Burnham is trying to start a sensible conversation on the topic, but they always miss an open net by not pointing out the above.

Taking £190m in UK state-built success & running to Greece for a tax break is shameful. Try pulling that stunt in China.. Beijing locks capital & stops tax dodgers leaving. Pathetic to take everything Britain offered, then abandon the public purse. Pay your fair share.

Big difference between the city of Manchester (Mancunians) and the surrounding towns of Greater Manchester. The Reform following will mostly be concentrated in the Towns (Rochdale, Oldham, Bolton etc).

Polanski on canal boats & hypnoboobs . Still can't do an interview without a mention. Also, why doesn't anyone ask Farage about the 30 schoolmates saying he used to whisper "gas em all" in a Jewish kids ear any more?

How did his wife buy the house in Clacton? He wasn't the leader of a party when he received the £5m. He was the OWNER of one.

To be fair, Reforms predicted % for both Gorton and Denton and now Makerfield turned out to be dramatic overstatements. Suggesting that, when it comes to it, people won't go out and vote for Reform, even when they've expressed an interest in doing so.

While you're backtracking, maybe do some wider research into your deeply flawed and one-dimensional views on a very serious and highly nuanced subject. Your ignorance is dangerous and offensive.

James @jamesvii.bsky.social · 16/05/2026
It's a different march 😂 That looks like the unite the kingdom march. The second part of the banner is racist. The first part about Zionism isn't antisemitic, no. As it's clearly talking of Zionism, which I'm sure you'll know, should not be conflated with Judaism (to do so is itself antisemitism)

18% vote share and massive gains across England, but sure, 'nightmare.' Next time, maybe wait for the actual numbers to drop before getting the 'I told you so's' out of your system.

Members and back benchers also recognise how utterly devoid of alternative options the party is. Streeting is another 'Labour Together' careerist and Rayner doesn't have the capability or the integrity. That leaves Burnham. It's clearly Burnham or bust for the Labour party.

He failed in leadership elections when there were over 500k socialist members and left wing alternatives on the ballot. Over 300k socialist members have now left the party, leaving a more centrist Burnham-supporting base. He'd easily win a leadership election now.

How are social democratic Scandinavian style policies 'extreme'? They want to Reform NATO from within and forge closer ties with our European neighbours on defence. Hedging all your bets on the US to help us in a crisis is clearly now absurd and it makes sense to plan for the new world order.

Genuinely surreal! Zack Polanski, a *Jewish* politician, accused of antisemitism, while Nigel Farage -with multiple former schoolfriends alleging racist behaviour - is framed as an ally. Criticising a government doesn’t make you “less Jewish.”

Funny that the BBC/ mainstream media justification for giving Reform so much airtime was that they reached 20% in the polls. Now the Greens are routinely at 20% with Yougov and leading the popular vote with the under 65s, they should have someone on question time every week too, right? Right?!

How could Polanski ditch a manifesto in a 1 member 1 vote fully democratic party? He has equal power to any other member to influence party policy. This isn't 'Labour Together' or Reform UK Ltd. You seem to have very little idea what you're on about Dave.
100
James @jamesvii.bsky.social · 24/04/2026
If they're in the minority then why would he need to worry? Surely they'd be an insignificance? However, the currently Green policy platform was in place years before Polanski. Unlike Labour, they are a one member one vote genuinely democratic party. So you're completely wrong with both points.

I'm a green party member mate. I've no dog in the fight other than a passing interest in how this plays out. Labour is a ticking timebomb and the back benchers need to defuse it or lose their seats and their party. I've got the popcorn out to see what happens.

Ah yes, those savage Greens pushing their radical agenda of clean rivers, functioning public services, a health service that survives the decade, an immigration system that actually works and the occasional wild idea like world peace and taxing wealth fairly. Truly terrifying stuff.

We all know that, if Zack wasn't Jewish, they'd be hitting him with the antisemitism smears. The Boobgate attack line is all they've got. It doesn't work, it was years ago, nobody cares and we're at 21% in the polls. We're trying to focus on what actually matters: improving people’s lives 👍

Popularity is a vital measure of re-election. Unpopular politicians don't survive. I'm sure you'll remember that in opposition, Labour repeatedly said it was “a party of government, not a party of protest” and that they aimed to win power and implement change, not just oppose from the sidelines.

The data would suggest it's not just my opinion. And this data was *before* the whole Mandleson saga. He's since managed to slip from a historic low to previously uncharted depths. At this point, he's slightly less popular than cholera.

The Tories detonated themselves after 14 years and dragged turnout down to one of the lowest levels in a century. Labour got a landslide with just 33.7% of the vote - the lowest winning vote share ever. So yeah… the country didn’t so much ‘vote Labour’ as ‘vote Not Tory’.

James @jamesvii.bsky.social · 27/02/2026
Maybe if he'd just been honest and called them lies instead of pledges he wouldn't be so universally despised. Although he would never have been elected Labour leader, of course.
