I described the cat chick as 'grebo' in the alt text but honestly she's more fraggle or crusty. Could pass for Madchester, even 🤔 ...I do believe I'm the first person to do kink art that namedrops these subcultures

It took me a while to realise they were Lincoln impersonators; I thought they were undertakers and Heathcliff had desecrated a funeral or something ⚰️

I've been led to believe I'm named after a relative who died that way. Fell asleep with a lit ciggy and a flammable mattress I don't object to being named after a beloved family member but nobody has ever told me anything else about him. All I know is I'm named after a guy who died stupidly

Usually I like it when the big butt has big hips n thighs to go with it. But as my style gets more cartoony, I am becoming more partial to the skinny legs + bubble butt look 😸 #myart #oc

- Stechford (only one T) is a real place not far from me. Stetchford (two Ts) isn't named after it, not officially. Although Stetchford is a snooty broad, the town itself isn't very fancy (he said nicely). - Bapho was named almost immediately and his inspo should be obvious 🐐

- Spud was going to be Slab, Brick, Traffic or HGV (doesn't really roll off the tongue, that last one). - My mother suggested the cats all have names starting with the same letter. She also suggested Storm for Stetchford 🌩️ -- I don't show my mother everything I draw, just the SFW stuff 😼

Nobody asked, but Pussycat name lore, a thread: - Originally proposed names for Scabs were Skunk, Trash or KISSKISS (all caps). - If I'd have stuck with Skunk she would've had a stripe in her hair; I think I wanted to avoid confusion tho and keep her 100% cat 🐱

This started as a cute joke pic, but maybe the Pussycats from Planet X sometimes have lil episodes where their cat instincts take over? Stetchford and Scabs are probably better at suppressing them than playful Spud 😺 #myart #oc

The world right now is desperately missing modern versions of these. Physical catalogues for solar panels n stuff with beautifully rendered hand-painted illustrations of multiracial casts of kids wearin Crocs. I unironically think it'd be keen 🐈

Catman James C. @jamesthec.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

These go unnecessarily hard for a tire catalogue. I kinda like these olden days when everything in a catalogue was illustrated cos the tech to print decent colour photos wasn't quite there yet - old toy catalogues for example are real neat! Also Grampa is havin' a ball in all of these 👴

Time to draw my own goth bimbo cat character, Scabs - a few people thought her stuffed toy Bapho was cute, so I decided to draw him again 🐐 #myart #oc Should he actually be sentient, tho? Brought to life by alien science... or black magic? Or maybe he's just a toy who likes to dream... 🐐💭

God even by his normal squeaky clean standards this is corny and condescending as hell. That awful face in the second panel makes me want to slap the kid

Catman James C. @jamesthec.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

My personal favourite subgenre of this is "old cartoonist draws kids dancing to something that is very obviously not music, i.e. roadworks, machines backfiring etc." 20-30 years before the birth of industrial music and noise rock

Every generation rebels against the last one but the 60s counter-culture thing just felt massive - it wasn't even a US thing exclusively, it was global. So many subcultures since then have been either more localised or really short-lived.
