James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Always wondered why we use the 1892 date as the founding of the club, when surely we should use 1881, given that all that happened in 1892 was a partial name change. 110
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 07/09/2026I was lucky enough to be at The Dell as a kid when he made his full debut for Southampton at 17 and grabbed a hat trick against Arsenal. 121
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 03/09/2026I noticed that at least some of them had small logo of Populous in the bottom corner - they are the architects who did Spurs stadium among others: populous.com/collections/...populous.comFootball/Soccer Stadiums | PopulousWhether you call it football or soccer, it is one of the biggest sports and businesses on earth. James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 26/08/2026Surely surely surely we are going to bring in some LB cover? I know Dedić and Tino can play there but given Hall and mostly Timo’s injury records surely we need another FB. 110
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 18/08/2026Way back now but Tommy Wright’s miracle save away at Bristol Rovers under Keegan. My 12th away game and first time seeing a win. 010
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 11/08/2026Who is that with the Everton scarf? ?! It’s not Moyes. Looks more like an AI Deschamps. 130
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 11/08/2026It’s Jaissle doing some clothes shopping then grabbing some DVDs and kitchen utensils he’s had in storage. 010
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 08/08/2026Somehow the new home shirt looks even worse on the lads than it looked in the promotional marketing #honking #nufc 000
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 08/08/2026In the Guardian today @edaarons.bsky.social mentions Diomande came for trial at #NUFC - among others - before signing for Leganés, so late 2023 or early 24. Amazing that nobody went for him and yet 18 months later he’s signing for Madrid for £115m. Him and Elliot might have done ok for us. 000
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 07/08/2026I saw him play for the U21s last year and thought he looked really good on the ball. Have kept an ear out since but not really heard anything. 020
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 03/08/2026I personally enjoy the idea of Biffa & Niall sorting through emails from players and agents and deciding which ones to forward to Riyadh and which ones to move to junk. 161
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 10/07/2026Surely some middle ground here - we want full commitment & ideally a sense they’re embedding themselves & family in the region. But need to respect that a 70% pay rise & more realistic prospect of winning things is attractive. Isak went about it terribly - hopefully Bruno will be more professional. 121
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 08/07/2026Talented employee sees multiple colleagues leave. Realises replacements are inexperienced & his workload will increase. Remembers management’s broken promises on investment. Checks LinkedIn & sees message from successful competitor who pay 75% more. Resigns. It’s done #nufc - just make it quick. 261
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 01/07/2026I know he was terrible in the PL for the last 18 months but didn’t realise it was that bad. 100

James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 18/06/2026Not sure that’s true. Agent would have still kept door open to any club who could pay an extra £80k a week in wages. Same problem as last summer - we can only sign players the Big 6 don’t want/need because they can always offer higher wages. 130
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 17/06/2026I’m not too bothered about the optics. Everyone knows (or should probably understand) Big 6 can afford fees and wages that nobody else can match, no matter how badly they’ve performed on/off the pitch. Moving 2 players on for big money who consistently underwhelmed for us is sensible by Wilson. 110
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 10/06/2026I remember waiting for mine to come through the post. It was about two inches thick and doubled the weight of the shirt. 110
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 19/05/2026Think as a fanbase we need to be realistic about prices we will secure for players if we’re pushing for early sales. For example it might be easier to shift Gordon in June if we accepted a fee around 60-65m. 010
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 18/05/2026The elbow on Burn at Stamford Bridge (potentially pre-VAR?) and the leg break attempt on Longstaff at SJP always stick in my mind. Just seen tonight’s - inexplicable that the ref has got that wrong and that VAR hasn’t stepped in. 010
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 26/04/2026He’s earned the right to do whatever he feels is best. But you’re right, Jeff, would be a tough one to accept. And would make the summer tricky for the club to present as a positive one should it happen. 010
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 12/04/2026Heating up in the race between Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes to see who will be crowned the Premier League’s least threatening left-sided forward for the 2025/26 season #nufc 000
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 12/04/2026Like most weeks the defending was poor but the attacking was worse. We carry almost zero threat going forward. 210
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 11/04/2026When I saw them a few months back I thought Pivas really stood out for his quality on the ball but not heard any opinions on what his chances are. Also where is Alabi? Injured presumably - not heard anything about him since he was on 1st team bench before Xmas. 100
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 22/03/2026Agreed re. Big Nick. As one of the few players we have with some ability on the ball (Hall, Murphy, Bruno when he’s fit) it felt strange to see him subbed. Would have seemed more logical to push him further forward given our attack carried zero threat second half. 000
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 22/03/2026So, so poor going forward second half. Sunderland grew into the game once they realised Barnes, Gordon and Elanga offered zero threat. No idea how we fix our attack this summer given limited budget we’ll have #nufc 000
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 04/03/2026That would be elite numbers if he did in the PL. He’s done it once before and be interesting to see if he can get back to that level of output in his career. 100
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 18/02/2026Tripper 100% right. Perfect opportunity to help Nick add to his goal tally and help his confidence. 100
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 10/02/2026Sorry have to jump in here quickly to mention Tiote against Man City. A percentage of my general frustration with life can be traced back to that decision. 100
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 28/01/2026I noticed that - and then worried that I was noticing it. Shouldn’t all our players be taking the ball like that!? 😂 000
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 28/01/2026PL money means even average PL teams have squads stronger than all apart from the biggest continental teams. See Anthony Gordon vs CL right backs compared to Anthony Gordon vs PL right backs. 000
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 25/01/2026Really interesting to see how Man U do now if they get some confidence. Especially as they only have about a game every fortnight and are up against other teams who are already completely knackered. 010
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 24/01/2026That second one is a classic. The Egyptian lad Zaki at Wigan my favourite example. 010
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 22/01/2026You might be on to something but for me it always screams losing to Wimbledon at Selhurst Park. 120
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 21/01/2026I’m sure I remember Eddie was once being quoted as saying Barnes was the best natural finisher at the club after he joined. 110
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 14/01/2026Remember reading something about that in the context of the Brexit vote and how it was elderly English people living in Wales who tipped the balance. 010
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 14/01/2026Mind blowing for me that there are still almost a quarter of Welsh people planning to vote for what is essentially a movement born from English nationalism and xenophobia. 110
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 10/01/2026Be nice to start picking up some players like him direct from South America without needing to pay the Chels their 30£m scouting mark up. 000
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 10/01/2026What are you thinking @editkev.football - younger back up for the Thiaw-Botman partnership or someone to start ahead of one of them? 100
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 08/01/2026You have reminded me about that! Had completely forgotten feeling negative towards him before he signed. But once he played for us I loved him, his commitment and how simple he made that midfield role look. 010
James Shepherd @jamesshep.bsky.social · 07/01/2026Leeds won’t fade after 60 mins like we knew Palace were likely to do, so hopefully we can get control and a goal or two earlier in the game. 100
