Of course Trump wants more from the law firms. Once you give in to Trump, he won’t stop, not even when he’s fitted you for a collar. There are no deals with Trump. There’s only resistance or capitulation.

Historian Eric Johnson’s conclusion in “Nazi Terror”: Germans who weren’t in an “unfortunate minority” during the Third Reich typically got along just fine. Nazis prevailed because many Germans loved them, others grumbled but shrugged their shoulders, and too few actively resisted.

And when the artist tried to post it on Twitter, it was immediately banned for “violating community standards,” which is apparently code for “questioned Elon Musk.” Killing hungry kids while siphoning off government funds, then shutting people up when they point this out? The oligarchy is here.

What if the goal isn't deportation, but a new system of perpetual subjugation and slavery?
Cozycryptidcorner writes, "I don't think the main goal is mass deportation. Currently there are huge detainment camps being built in Texas for ICE. Slavery is legal in the case of prisoners. "How will we have field workers if they're all in detainment camps?" you ask. Girl, they will still be field workers, but under the thumb of for-profit prison owners.... If Texas and Mississippi both have plans to build large-scale detainment camps for undocumented immigrants to hold them indefinitely per Trump executive order, and if there is a large labor vacuum as undocumented immigrants are arrested and go into hiding, what do you THINK is about to happen?

To reverse the throttling of information about governments, elections, political issues, and social issues, you have to drill down five levels in settings (Profile -> Settings and Privacy -> Content Preferences -> Manage Defaults -> Political Content). Hard to find. #socialmedia #censorship

Elizabeth Warren follows up EPI with a great point that is true and lands well: www.dataforprogress.org/insights/202...
What they're not telling you is that corporate profits have increased by 75% since 2020 - far outpacing inflation.

Giant companies are making record profits by hiking prices. And don't take my word for it, take the word of Big Food CEOs who get on their conference calls and tell their investors that they're using inflation as an excuse to raise prices way above costs. Beyond that, these companies use a number of tricks and traps to cut out competition, which raises costs even further.

As a result, food prices have become one of voters' top priorities heading into the
November election. Recent Data for Progress polling found that 88% of voters are concerned about inflation, and when asked what costs they're most concerned about, food prices overwhelmingly rise to the top.

If you want to win workers back, try the Economic Policy Institute’s message. The EPI documents what workers (who are NOT stupid) know from experience: while the value produced by workers for corporations has gone way up, since Reagan and Clinton targeted labor workers’ wages have not kept pace.
100
James Cook @jamesmcook.bsky.social · 26/11/2024
If you want to win workers back, stop taking the corporate point of view that the Democratic Party has come to rely on. Rep. Marc Pocan — a Democrat — gets the message right here: pocan.house.gov/trade-agreem...
"Trade agreements promote the practice of sending jobs overseas where work is done work in sweat shops, while disregarding the rights of workers around the world," said Representative Pocan. "Trade deals allow multinational corporations to take advantage of unfair labor practices and unsafe working conditions to rake in billions. On top of that, these deals not only ship jobs to foreign countries, but they depress U.S. wages and make it harder for jobs to be created here in America."
The abysmal working conditions and despicable wages workers face in countries such as Bangladesh and Vietnam are well documented. Minimum wages of 28 cents an hour and almost no days off of work are the norm. The collapse of Rana Plaza garment-factory in Bangladesh last year left more than 1,100 people dead. In Vietnam wages are only about two thirds of what wages are in China making Vietnam attractive to multinational corporations looking to make billions off of cheap labor. This all means more jobs shipped overseas, in sweatshop-like conditions.

James Cook @jamesmcook.bsky.social · 26/11/2024
And Democrats’ memes about how workers don’t get the “amazing” Biden economy slides further into elitism. Ignore rampant inflation: stocks are great! Stocks are all about the wealth class, not workers, people. When you can’t pay rent or buy meat, this message really is going to piss you off.
100
James Cook @jamesmcook.bsky.social · 26/11/2024
It’s easy to fall into the trap of disagreeing with every word Donald Trump says, because yes, he’s a fascist bigoted ass, but that turns you into an elitist, which he uses to win. You do realize you’re using the word “consumers” and not the word “workers” here… …don’t you?
110
James Cook @jamesmcook.bsky.social · 26/11/2024
Why did working class voters stop voting Democrat? Well, let’s talk messaging. You do realize when you pass along anti-tariff memes like this that you sound like an apologist for the Clinton-WalMart deal that propped up sweatshops and tanked wages of American workers… … don’t you?

"the [Trump] team plans to stop issuing citizenship-affirming documents, like passports and Social Security cards, to infants born on domestic soil to undocumented migrant parents in a bid to end birthright citizenship."

I don't know anyone in the field that is not classifying trumpism as a kind of facism.
> Are we truly on a razor's edge right now?
I don't know how to put this without sounding unreasonable. You are far over the edge. The USA had serious structural issues in their institutions for decades and the democrats unfortunately made not much progress in improving this.
Everything indicates the USA moving towards authoritarianism. Both houses are in the hands of the GOP, the supreme court is mayority of GOP pics.
Project 2025 is a roadmap to an authoritarian system. If trumps does follow it and ideed does replace all government officials across all levels of gouverment with the planed trump loyalist checks and balances is over. Anything short of well organzied mass opposition will mean the end of free elections (free by low US standards). I am talking 3.5% of the population (12 Million people) enganged in a peacefull protest movement as an absolute minimum. Not just one time participation in protest march.
What to expect for the next months? Think of hungary now - not 1940 Germany. The US already has put kids in cages, deathcamps and torture, it's not like violence and killing of political opposition is new to US agencies either. The only difference will be to apply it domestically.

Well, that’s efficient.
Daily users of X, previously known as Twitter, have declined consistently since Musk acquired it in 2022. Last year, it had roughly 250 million daily active users and Musk claimed that the total would grow to 1 billion in 2024. On election day last week, X had only 162 million daily users—and even that was a yearly high, according to Sensor Tower, a market intelligence firm that tracks the platform. A day later, that number had already dropped by 5 million, to 157 million daily users.

Under Musk’s ownership, X has lost an average of 14% of its users monthly, according to Sensor Tower. Despite the slight boost in daily users on the day of the election, an “elongated slide in active users” has continued, Sensor Tower’s research lead Seema Shah told Fortune.
