This is hilarious - Man United fans looking at the CV of their current CEO Omar Berrada 😂

I was in halls in Liverpool with a lad from Portadown. Nice fella. He used to get papers sent from home, almost on a daily basis, so he could keep up with news of the troubles in NI. That was 34 years ago and yet here we are today! Wanting to parade about something that happened in 1690? FFS!!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

I'm not optimistic that it will happen but I am kind of hoping City will have to pack it all in and start again. A proper bottom of the pyramid phoenix club job! I've experienced it with my home town team, Hereford United and it was horrible but they weren't state owned cheats!

I can't comment on the performance. I only saw the last 20 minutes as we went out for lunch. Very happy with the 3 points though! Up Andoni's unbeaten Reds!

James @jamesmaggs.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

I enjoyed that. Another step in the right direction for Andoni's Reds. One of those rare occasions where you couldn't criticise any player, it was just a great team effort from them all. What a goal to seal it too!! 😲

Surely one of the greatest knee slide celebrations of all time! Perfectly judged. 👌

On the way home from the Forest game, my 17th LFC game in a row without seeing us lose, I was thinking how supporting such a successful club isn't a normal football fan experience. Boy can't you see that today. A disappointing result, yes! Some serious overreaction to a point at home though.

I finished watching the Channel 4 Dispatches on Yaxley-Lennon this evening. In many ways it's nothing we didn't already know. He's a grifting, morally bankrupt racist. The way he used that poor grooming gang victim is pure evil though. He's absolute scum to profit from someone's pain like that.

James @jamesmaggs.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

Well done Andoni's unbeaten Redmen! Great early goals from Isak, Munoz superb again, Araujo solid, Barcola's debut and youngsters getting minutes off the bench. Lovely stuff! 🙌

James @jamesmaggs.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

Maguire wouldn't have even had a shot if he hadn't handballed it! Ridiculous rule!

010

James @jamesmaggs.bsky.social · 29/08/2026

Gakpo is a seasoned international. A grown-up player in a team containing many youngsters. His numbers for LFC are ok. He had a poor season last term but still got 7 PL goals and 5 assists. More than most! Selling him with the squad as it is now, even with Barcola coming in, would be mindless!

A few thoughts on todays game. Jacquet & Munoz look excellent signings, Araujo too. VVD still good. Tsimikas should start ahead of Kerkez on the left and we need a new right back. Also need a proper CDM and more squad depth in general. Wirtz and Isak were good in flashes but need to contribute more.

Players at the end of the Liverpool v Nottingham Forest game at Anfield.

Picked up a last minute returned season ticket. Not all bad but gifting chances. Frimpong is not a right back!

I really like Andoni Iraola but this just shows that he's inherited a squad with many, many problems.

Am fully expecting Bournemouth to reject a £50 million bid from Liverpool for Rayan before the close of play on Friday.

People of Clacton! Show your support for me by putting a bin outside your house, one day this week, of a colour of Tendring Council's choice. This will be unequivocal proof of the success of my campaign.

Just been reading about the investment and it's all very depressing in my opinion. They will own around a third of the club. Bhatia (a Tory donor) & Saverin are venture capitalists. They will just want profit from this. Bezos gave Trump $1 million for his inaugural fund. He's clearly a c**t!

James @jamesmaggs.bsky.social · 08/08/2026

Good to sign an experienced defender in Araújo. I don't recall watching him play but to have played 143 games for Barca he must have something about him. A big lad at 6'3 so fingers crossed he's decent in the air. Hopefully more signings to come. 🤞

Under a Binface government, anyone who doesn’t accept human-made climate change as fact will be sent back to school, from Year 1 right the way to A Levels, to see if anything goes in the second time round. #VoteBinface

Very sad news about Kevin Keegan. He lived a life most people can only dream of but at 75 he's gone too soon.

I am only still watching in the hope that someone clubs him round the back of the head with the World Cup.

Well done Spain. The best team won. It really put me off Argentina as a nation, watching that. A horrible bunch of footballers!

I photographed Wrexham's game at Hereford in 2008 which saw them relegated to the Conference. Fast forward 18 years.. Hereford went bust, reformed and lost today's friendly against Bishops Cleeve of the Southern League Div 1 South. Wrexham, of the Championship, are beating Man United in Helsinki. 🤷‍♂️

Micah Richards there who never played in a major international tournament. Give it a rest, son!

"Spain is a terrible partner in NATO. They don’t participate. They don’t pay. I don’t want anything to do with Spain. Cut off all trade with Spain, please, including visits. Don’t even talk to them. They’re hopeless, bad people". Trump, 6 days ago. 11 days before presenting the World Cup trophy.

010

James @jamesmaggs.bsky.social · 14/07/2026

There's no way Trump is letting Spain win this World Cup. Not a chance that he's willing to hand them the trophy. It feels like England are basically a shoo-in at this point.

So a slight tug by Macallister isn't enough to give a penalty to Egypt but a slight tug at the other end of the field was enough to deny Egypt a goal 🤔

Good luck Andoni Iraola! A season of being competitive for the top 5 but playing a more exciting brand of football will do for me. I am impressed by his welcome interview, especially the talk of working with Academy and fringe players over pre-season. It sounds like he has a strong work ethic. 🤞

James @jamesmaggs.bsky.social · 02/06/2026

I normally err on the faintly pessimistic side of realistic with regards to most things. I feel quite positive about Iraola though. I think he could be a good fit for Liverpool. He's a keen cyclist too which pleases me. Looking forward to the pre-season bike pics already.

I think the changes to Liverpool FC's ticketing process is a step in the right direction on the whole. They won't please everyone and I don't think it will make much difference to me and my 2 credits. It's a very good thing that people can no longer buy their way to 13+ credits through hospitality.

The title was glorious, this season has been a hard watch. Arne Slot will always be remembered as a Premier League winning coach. It's up to the squad now to perform for his replacement next season.

Sad to hear Konate's off. He was a great signing at first. Defensively solid and popped up with a few goals. He's got progressively worse over the years though and although I know he had very difficult personal issues to deal with he had become a liability. I'll remember him for the '22 semi-final.

Visiting Cambridge for the first time with the family. An absolute gem of a city. Easily one of the nicest city centres I've been to in the UK. I don't know why they've labelled that sculpture as being Charles Darwin though? It's clearly Terry Wogan!
