Finding 4: The ACPS transportation director is said to have repeatedly told department employees that they could file HR complaints, but that her superiors would have her back. Now, after years of HR complaints, she is on administrative leave, following the Alexandria Times investigation. 🧵(5/5)

Finding 3: The ACPS transportation director was found by a 2024 internal investigation to have contributed to a "psychologically unsafe work environment" for some employees and to have committed "unethical" and "offensive" conduct. Yet she has remained at the helm of the department. 🧵(4/5)

Finding 2: Some ACPS staff responsible for creating bus routes have not consistently done so. Instead, in an unusual arrangement, a bus driver whose job description includes no mention of routing has reported to the office and created the bulk of the routes, amassing $44,000 in overtime. 🧵(3/5)

Finding 1: ACPS spent over $4 million on private taxi services last year. Taxis were sometimes pursued before other options -- such as modifying problematic bus routes -- had been exhausted, according to a retired assistant director. 🧵(2/5) alextimes.com/local-news/e...

ACPS Transportation Department faces disarray - Alexandria Times
By James Libresco | jlibresco@alextimes.com An ordinary office this was not. There were threats and thundering yells, intimidation and an assault charge, profuse profanity and an erosion of morale at the Alexandria City Public Schools Transportation Department. All the while, students arrived late to class, 6-year-olds were assigned to walk through busy intersections and millions […]

Hi! Here are three parts about how the cameras are unique, although you’re right that I didn’t explicitly compare them to speed cameras. You’re also right that this story is super long, so apologies if that resulted in information getting missed.
