Bryan: Incredibly thankful for the opportunity to do my first design lead on this set, and for the support of the countless folks who worked their butts off to make this product awesome. We are headed on a very cool journey over the next few months, and MPA is just the start!

James: We were also tournament grinders once upon a time. We know how important this is to many players. Thank you noticing the efforts of unsung heroes of LSS finance and OP teams who make this happen on the weekly. And congrats btw!!

2x2 "two-by-two". Sometime Bryan and I will do a dev talk about set structures and share some visualizations. The foundational structures have a huge influence on design, development, and overall product experience. We've learned a lot and continue to learn the +/- of each.

James: We call this set structure "Hot Pot". One shared central pot (Mystic in the case is MST, Pirate for SEA, Lightning for OMN), with 3 classes that sit around it. Name comes from the traditional Chinese style of communal dining, also called steam boat across parts of Southeast Asia.

Running two unique live stream setups has proven to be a massive burden on the production team, so we had to prioritize tournament coverage. HQ YouTube keynote recording will be up soon after conclusion, and I bet our fav content creators will be streaming if you just can’t wait! t.co/EHcuMN

Unique stat from RTN Week 1 that I don't recall ever seeing before: The top 5 most played decks were Marionette, Gravy, Verdance, Kayo, Kassai. Only one of these decks is in the top 5 for conversion rate, and its in 5th place.

I keep seeing this question in various places so, to clarify: Only a hero that particpated in the previous SAGE season is eligble to be benched come voting time. E.g., when we go to vote before the release of Set 19, Chane cannot be voted for. He'll be back (with card bans).

James & Bryan Repost Account @jamesgottlieb.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

The “sitting out multiple seasons in a row” outcome occurs the second (or 3rd, 4th, etc.) time the hero is benched. They then sit out a number of seasons = to times they’ve been benched. E.g. if Chane is voted out before set 20 release, he’ll sit out 2 seasons.

Check out my interview with @DozrFAB for some insights into Compendium of Rathe design. One thing I forgot to mention is reprints will be slowing down for a while. PEN did it's job of accessibility to CC staples. t.co/4YhOO9MjHC

It's been awhile since I did a community interview. PEN being non-draftable has a lot of design thinking that deviates from a standalone set. Content creators DM me your pitch to come on your show and talk PEN design / FAB in general! I'll pick one show #fabtcg
