"Multimillionaires like Sheeran, who have no credible material fears for their future, are often the least principled among us." I interviewed author/musician Dave Randall about the myth of the apolitical pop star and how fans can support artists against genocide: www.plutobooks.com/blog/dave-ra...

Dave Randall on Ed Sheeran, Macklemore, and the Myth of Political Neutrality - Pluto Press
When Macklemore was dropped from Ed Sheeran’s Loop tour for expressing solidarity with Palestine, it reignited a fierce debate about censorship, solidarity, and the cost of so-called political neutral...

Two must-read books that debunk biological determinism and the pseudoscientific claims linking race and IQ. Gould demonstrates how IQ testing was weaponised to justify racial hierarchies. Saini shows how that same playbook resurfaces today.

Journalists failed to consult speech-language therapists/pathologists when reporting on Arday. Children with communication difficulties can speak in certain settings: I’ve witnessed this firsthand. Instead the entire narrative rests on hearsay.

Nathan Cofnas says that granting communities 'freedom to organize themselves according to different values' will likely result in self-segregation. Robert Patterson, founder of the White Citizens’ Council, 1956: "Segregation represents the freedom to choose one’s associates" Sound familiar?

AB is undoubtedly off to a good start, but I’d hesitate to call this a “masterclass” in political comms. Let’s not mistake competence for brilliance.

Forget cutting the benefits bill: we need to talk about how we can’t afford the rich and their big treats economy.

The 'nationalize the economy' discourse doesn't feel like it's leading us any closer a socialist political platform with mass appeal. We need to meet people where they're at (👋 Mamdani) - these are important debates but should they form the foundation of a new party?

James Kelly @jamesfkelly.bsky.social · 29/07/2025
A lot of the "spook" talk around the new left party feels like misplaced anxiety - about the failures of Corbynism 1.0, and the lack of class aned regional diversity among its loudest voices. The answer isn't to indulge in conspiracy. It's creating a radically democratic party structure.
