10/ The builders who did the hard work during the pause - who deployed open infrastructure, built internal expertise, wrote sovereign AI into their actual strategy docs - most aren't going back. Not fully. The ones who just waited? Back on Fable 5 by Thursday.

9/ Sovereigns, regulated industries, anyone whose AI roadmap got disrupted overnight by a Department of Commerce notice - the memory is fresh. Capability is seductive. Control is structural. You can't optimize for both without choosing a direction.

8/ The core tension doesn't disappear because Anthropic's access got restored: Do you want the most powerful model available - or a model you actually control? Those are increasingly different answers.

4/ Teams stood up Llama deployments. Procurement shifted to Mistral. Sovereign AI strategies that lived on roadmap slides became actual engineering priorities. Countries that passively consumed US frontier models started asking harder questions about dependency.

3/ The pause wasn't an inconvenience. For governments, enterprises, and serious builders, it was a forced reckoning. You couldn't rely on best-in-class proprietary infrastructure anymore. So you didn't.

2/ Anthropic this morning: "We've received notice that the Department of Commerce has lifted export controls on Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5. We'll begin restoring access tomorrow." Good news for a lot of people. The more interesting question is what happened in between.
