The data isn't very good yet. Processed food is one factor increasing risk. Obesity, alcohol and tobacco, sedentary life are linked as factors increasing risk, but not directly causing. Excessive antibiotic use, microplastics & PFAS, are being studied.

Returning from Europe tomorrow. In >20 trips over decades have restaurant staff ever told me their names (unless asked, & don't), said silly things like I'll be taking care of you, interrupted us to ask how our first few bites are tasting. Shudder; shall I say "marginally okay?""go away", what then?

Real talk by Dutch politician, Anna Strolenberg on Jane Doe & the predatory male tech industry. "I stand with Jane Doe. Abusing women is not a business model. Whether it’s spyware to track women’s phones, or nudify apps used to undress women, Big Tech has made millions off the abuse of women."

Deborah Frances-White: It’s not just Cornell: rape culture spreads from frat houses to business, politics and even boys’ phones

College fraternities are notoriously unsafe places for women. But it’s worse than that: they are also where the most powerful men in the world learn to be misogynistic, writes the Guilty Feminist

Just as it wouldn't have been enough to remove Hitler on 20 July 1944, and wasn't enough for them to change to Biden for 4 years, it's extremely doubtful (at the level of absolutely not) that change of leader and replacing his cadre of maniacs will be enough.

Everytime we visit a city which has made walking and cycling the only permitted transportation in their centre, the more we have liked it. People passing by, watching eachother, random chats, eating, drinking, milling and sauntering. Simple small enjoyment.

The USA was merely the default option post WW2. Other countries destroyed, too small or recovering from colonialism. It was never a model for much of anything & currently realizing the dark dreams of the same people who started WW2. Hope a world war isn't needed to reset to something better.

Everywhere we go in Europe there's been a Holocaust memorial and Nazi death camp. San Sabba is a former rice factory used to kill people in Trieste, Italy. Entry with new concrete, confinement cells 1m x 1m x 2m, death cell with evidence of hanging, beating to death, shooting, mostly deportation.

The world defaulted to an American-led world after WW2 bc no other country was able to. Not because the USA was better, but because it was all there was. Colonialism had stopped any third options. After the USA crumbles, I hope what's next is better: we've lost 50 years not fighting climate change.

Consent. It's actually very simple. Don't make people drink tea who are unconscious, decide they don't want it even after you boil the water etc. And also don't f^cking r@pe them if they say no or are unconscious or don't want it even other wanted it last night. Simple.
