In healthy awake brains, visual flicker at 40 Hz produces a greater peak response than 30 Hz. This pattern is reversed in unconscious coma patients. Gamma band visual stimulation could be used as a marker of consciousness. Our first attempt is now published: doi.org/10.1016/j.ne...

Our paper on decoding real-world visual scenes using flicker glasses and mobile EEG is now out. Every visual scene generates a unique SSVEP waveform shape, which is also unique to each individual, and we can decode with 5–10 s of data. Evoked gamma oscillations encode the most information.

Thanks! Trying this with blinks is a good idea, should be fairly easy to test, assuming eye-blink artifacts are not too big. Does anyone know how fast people can blink?
