I was rooting for the Canadian team but these ladies restored my long gone hope for the American people. There is indeed still hope.

Someone's "Art of the Deal" is hard at work to bring more benefit to China. Lovely. Good for Mark Carney really. The man knows how to do his job well detached from ideology.

This sort of thing used to be told about South American Junta regimes, Pinoche's Chile, and Ceaușescu's regime. Not the United States of America. What a pathetic downfall for a great country.

Hacking US crosswalks to talk like Zuck is as easy as 1234
AI-spoofed Mark joins fellow billionaires as the voice of the street – here's how it was probably done Video  Crosswalk buttons in various US cities were hijacked over the past week or so to – rather than robotically tell people it's safe to walk or wait – instead emit the AI-spoofed voices of Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and Mark Zuckerberg.…

"On Tyranny" is a #1 NYT bestseller again. I wish the moment were different. But I’m glad the book is useful. And grateful for all the kind words about putting the 20 lessons to work. snyder.substack.com/p/twenty-les...

Aside from anything else, this is clearly untrue. The EU retaliated immediately and has now had its tariff rate cut. The UK sucked it up and did not retaliate, and its rate is unchanged

I support American citizens being strip-searched upon entry to the EU. Canadians are too polite and decent to do it but German and French police at least are more than capable of giving Americans a dose of their own medicine.

These things seem indeed silly given the complex economic interrelations of multinational companies that put most of our consumer products on store shelves. But it also hints at a business and strategic opportunity for new businesses. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfNW...

I hope Marietje Schaake starts a new campaign to muster support for a European cloud computing infrastructure consortium. I'd gladly volunteer for it as a dutch engineer. European IT infrastructure can no longer afford to be running on US-based providers like AWS, Azure and GCP. #EuroCloud

Sometimes it feels like I’m going crazy, because there is something that is right in front of our faces, has been for years, and nobody of consequence ever says it: Donald Trump works for Vladimir Putin. How much more proof does anyone need? And what is anybody going to do about it?

Pinning your hopes to "something changing" or "people are starting to realize", by which you probably mean "people who voted for this maniac", is futile & juvenile.Resistance takes courage, discipline & hard word. With this crowd, it also takes quite a bit of ruggedness uncharacteristic of democrats.

It's great that somewhere on this planet politicians still believe in apologizing, but if you made such a big mistake and then realized it was a mistake in such a short time, then maybe someone should get fired for this.
