Seems bad that in the lead up to the shut down vote Dems spent 24 hours actively waffling, and essentially taking agency for the potential shut down. The gambit only works if you win the PR war, and they've certainly kneecapped their odds of that since yday regardless of outcome

The echo chamber conversation is weird because the people making those criticisms (journalists) use social media to escape echo chambers whereas I think most normal people have jobs where they rarely interact with people who share their exact values, social media connects them to likeminded folk
