PROMETHEUS comes out on 31st Oct 2026, but here’s a little taste of our stories. Today, we’re getting a snippet quote from our first two stories, TELEOP by Alisa Lee Kowal and A FAULT TO HEAVEN by Christopher Sehmi.

WHITE TITLE TEXT - PROMETHEUS IN QUOTES on a blue-purple gradient transparency box with a white line underneath.

Black transparency box with rounded corners and a slanting transparent box with a teal outline and quotation marks at the corner. Teal text reads: I keep expecting to hear the burst of glass on tile, for the man to release his rage through ruin, his ability to destroy. To let me pick up the pieces and sweep up the shards, a drone designed to bear witness to his private despair. A white speech bubble reads TELEOP outside the quote box.

Tam, Syra and Sword don't know else. They don't really mind the amount of technology - except the difference between cheap and expensive stuff. Why do ads and neon signs always buzz around Tam's home? And why are they all pretty and quiet in other districts? As for me - fuck genAI #TBBChat

041

Jake Vanguard @jakevanguard.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

There's a lot of similarities, so they wouldn't be too surprised. Mainly they'd be happy to not have neon everywhere for once and wonder why there's so many plants everywhere. #TBBChat

Jake Vanguard @jakevanguard.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

In OMEN, I'd say generally yes. There's certain luxuries only the rich and powerful can access - just like in our world - but most technology is available to the "common folk" How well it's made and new depends on the size of their accounts though... #TBBChat

031

Jake Vanguard @jakevanguard.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

In OMEN, technology is basically evolved from "our" technology. More advanced, very cyberpunk-ish including partially lab-grown produce. In the past, magic was also used to infuse technology but it's no longer practiced (at least in Neo Requiem) #TBBChat

Jake Vanguard @jakevanguard.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

That's me, and I'm nervous, 'cause it's my first time hosting! Anyway! OMEN is a cyberpunk story with a nonbinary fae main character 👀 I've also already cleaned my bathroom today, and put together a new cabinet, and sent ARCs for an anthology... #TBBChat

Jake Vanguard @jakevanguard.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

Of course we had to go for an OMEN snippet! Tam doing something they shouldn't, like usual. Nothing new there www.backerkit.com/c/projects/j...

“ETA in five minutes.” Syra’s in my ear, guiding me. Rebel taught her well, and now, she’s working from HQ to guide us and help as much as possible. I’m glad she’s safe, but I’m also pleased I can still talk to her.

Three more motorbikes follow us, winding through traffic and into the outer districts of Neo Requiem. The lab where █████ ██ ████ is surprisingly not around Natura Plaza but the slumps, disguised as an abandoned factory. Everything’s underground, which’ll make it much harder to enter.

Great, now I'm stuck in sound tracks...and want to reply Metal Eden. There's the answer too. Also, Ghostrunner soundtrack fits pretty well. It's such a cool game but damn is it also hard and frustrating (and the music? Amazing)

Jake Vanguard @jakevanguard.bsky.social · 29/08/2026

That's a harder question 🤔 [All 3 from OMEN] I can absolutely see Tam playing FPS games, and being pissed if they're not winning. Syra would love coop stuff like Stardew Valley or It Takes Two. [1/2] #TBBChat #BookBazaar26

Jake Vanguard @jakevanguard.bsky.social · 29/08/2026

For OMEN it's drugs you can sell, energy drinks, fast food, revealing clothes... uhm, yeah. There's only 1 weapon and that changes, so you can say you could level it up instead #TBBChat #BookBazaar26

180

Jake Vanguard @jakevanguard.bsky.social · 29/08/2026

Think OMEN would be similar to CP2077 - definitely action. Deity Chronicles could be a great RPG and skill trees. And Troubled Bodies? I'd say a mix of cleaning sim and action, alternating between POVs. That'd be a badass mix #TBBChat #BookBazaar26

260

Jake Vanguard @jakevanguard.bsky.social · 29/08/2026

What a perfect question! YES MANY So, for OMEN actually 2 games. Cyberpunk 2077 for the whole vibe, the city, nightlife, drugs... And then there's Stranger of Paradise FF Origin which gave me the idea of fae (elves in the game) and technology. Ghostwire Tokyo also a bit [1/2] #TBBChat #BookBazaar26

Forest... What a perfect prompt for my short story included in TRANS/FERAL. What's awaiting Az inside the house? Definitely something they didn't expect

The water soaking my fur adds so much weight it's dragging me down, exhaustion settling in my limbs. Even my shake to rid myself of water is only half-hearted, and I keep padding through the forest. I need to find a place where I can rest and dry off—and like a mirage, a house appears in front of me.

COMING IN AUGUST MELT: REFRAIN — a queer SFF/horror novel about vampires in love, and other four-letter words. indulge your worst self, then see which one of you gets to the finish line first. preorder and read the first chapter now: - itch - payhip cover art by @visceralhit.bsky.social

Book cover for MELT: REFRAIN, coming August 2026. The illustration features two characters, one in bright red, one in dark teal. The man in red is disheveled and smoking, eyes obscured in shadow, and the man in teal is behind him, mostly obscured and dangling a lowball glass over the first man's shoulder. Smoke drifts up from the cigarette, partially obscuring both their faces. The backdrop is black and dark red, and is textured a little like viscera. The title text has a similar texture and is outline in neon red.

Ichorous Innovations has been at the forefront of vampiric medical advancements for the better part of a century. Sometimes, this leads to…difficult schedules. While Hector appreciates all René—its founder, and his CEO-with-benefits—has accomplished, he’d really appreciate if the company stopped overworking his poor damn boyfriend.

Just because Simon's no longer human doesn’t mean he’s happy about the endless hours. Hector wouldn’t be, either, with a boss like that.

No matter what Hector does—no matter how many heads he happily cracks along the way—he can’t get the sense that something is terribly wrong out of his mind; same as he can’t seem to get past the hazy memory of sharp glass being plucked from his forehead by cold, gentle hands.

Everything changes for the worst all the time. What are you going to do about it?

When your interpersonal life can be explained via organizational chart, or: medically-managed immortality isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, or: trans freaks reinventing what it means to be alive.

Multi-pov, non-linear, first in a seriess.
