Following discussions today, it is clear that one of the biggest potential (and current) impacts on RE is trust leads. There are more & more trusts creating this role. Having an individual that knows schools,colleagues & students well AND having subject expertise is key. #TeamRE

The issue is that no matter what thinking, teachers/subject leads do for their subject, whole sch systems generally scupper them being as good as they could be Whenever I talk about assessment in RE with people, they don’t want effective assessment. They want RE assessment that fits whole school.

Too often, leaders expect teachers to develop a quality curriculum without really understanding the time that is needed to do it well. There are no quick-fixes and this work cannot be done in a void: clarity of vision and a commitment to professional learning must come from the top. Culture is key.
