The New Skill in AI is Not Prompting, It's Context Engineering
Context Engineering is the new skill in AI. It is about providing the right information and tools, in the right format, at the right time.

Data Rules Everything Around Me: The Future Of Enterprise Applications
Application UI is overrated.

“People interacting with an application UI has always been the weakest link in getting work done. A manual and necessary evil. But with agents that can act on data to drive workflow, the idea that work can only be done by people via an application UI is blown to shreds.”

Tyler Cowen, the man who wants to know everything
He is Silicon Valley’s favourite economist. Does his lust for knowledge have a place in the age of AI?

I think the risk can be mitigated if you're hyper focused on a specific, achievable use case, but that's more of the "low hanging fruit" approach and does little to answer the broader questions around agentic implementations

Jake @jakeliebert.com · 19/11/2024
Given your experience, are you betting on generalizable agent architectures or highly specialized implementations?
010
Jake @jakeliebert.com · 19/11/2024
Great thread on agents highlighting a few limitations: 1) Most companies are rushing in without clear goals 2) We lack good ways to measure successful agent implementations 3) It's hard to get lots of good training data to match real world situations (for eval specifically)

Wonder if the question is: does automation need to save time to be valuable, or is there inherent value in making processes more predictable, consistent, and partition-able? The coffee maker example - interaction is still required, but you don’t have to actively monitor the brewing process.

This seems true
It’s not clear there will ever be a Twitter replacement. If there is one, it won’t be the same. It may look the same, but it will be something else. The internet is different now, and the conditions that allowed Twitter to emerge in the first place no longer exist. The Twitter diaspora has scattered to all sorts of subscale clones or alternatives, with no signs of agreeing on where to settle. As noted social analyst Taylor Swift said, “We are never ever getting back together.”

I could be mistaken, but I’m pretty sure the team at the Vergecast joked about how funny it was that Zuck was the good guy here when I listened this morning. To be clear, I love The Verge, but lack of discussion on points of criticism for Threads is just a little discombobulating.
