"Fire. Air. Water. Earth. Long ago, there were four thriving nations. But everything changed when the Avatar attacked." Something along those lines would make for a pretty cool opening

Over the course of the story Korra also learns that she can't control how others feel about her, and releases the guilt she's carried for decades for 'causing' The Cataclysm. She won't be remembered as a hero by most, but she knows in her heart that she did the right thing.))

Through talking to [Pavi], Korra comes to understand that heroes, even Avatars, can't always be perfect, because they're still human She did the best she could, and made choices nobody else had the strength to

Korra never bends the elements again after that, consumed by guilt and shame. Her friends try to help her but even in the brief moments she wants to bend, she Can't. She can't bring herself to use the power that killed Asami. That desolated the world.

Many believe Korra caused The Cataclysm trying to save Asami. Korra wishes that were true. At least then she would know she made the right choice.

The explosion that would have destroyed the city mixes with the spiritual energies of the Avatar State, especially Korra's grief [negative energy], and now desolates the whole country.

[Countdown] 5 She makes the greatest possible sacrifice to stop The Cataclysm, and it still happens 4 Asami takes her final breath and uses it to tell Korra 3 "I didn't think you would-- 2 Iloveyou" 1 Korra enters the Avatar State in grief, and tries to contain the blast, but she's not strong enough

((This isn't really a prediction, it's just my idea for how the Cataclysm happened, part of a fic I wrote before Seven Havens was even revealed I do think a lot of it could be accurate though, especially the emotional core of a tragic choice & Korra's guilt, so I'm putting it here in case I'm right

Thank you for reading my first Avatar thread!💜 I have a lot of thoughts on the whole franchise, but I'll mostly be covering Seven Havens in the coming weeks. Star Wars content will also be a priority still! I'm aiming to post a lot of my best theories soon May the Force be with you💜

Maybe all the storms are actually these Entities, these spirits fused with technology, like the Red One, each with different colour electricity. And humanity wouldn't need the Havens if they had been better stewards of the natural world.

Ellora clearly has deep connections to the Spirits... or just diamonds I guess. They're all over the place! And as many fans have pointed out, Pavi and Nisha both have diamond-shaped pupils. All signs point to Great Spirits: either Raava & Vaatu, or new ones.

JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
The Entities might be Artificial Spirits invented by humanity, which grew beyond their control, and could only be destroyed by Korra burning Republic City to the ground using the power of Sozin's Comet. The rest of the world is intact, but Ellora is cut off from it, until the Ambassadors arrive.

JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
The nation we see Korra in, presumably Republic City, was growing purple veins of negative (corruptive) spirit energy, so maybe Republic City were the only ones, or at least the most significant polluters, exploiting the spirit world.

JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
The only evidence we have is the beliefs of the people of Ellora, who have been mislead about some events, and their leader might be a Red Lotus member. What if the entire premise of the show is a lie, and when Pavi leaves Ellora she finds a world full of life and deep admiration for the Avatar?

JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
What if the Seven Havens are also a lie? Korra, even with Sozin's Comet, couldn't have destroyed the whole world. No one can. Korra might have destroyed Republic City and maaaybe the whole Earth Kingdom, but not the world. We've only seen Ellora so far, maybe it's the only Haven.

JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Anyways, This mural is a lie! We see the Cataclysm, and it's not Korra with the four elements. It's spiritual lightning and tornadoes, and tidal waves.

Imagine an earthbending prodigy like Toph, as the main villain of the series. A villain with a deeply personal connection to the Avatar before any punches were thrown. A villain with such mastery over Earth she doesn't need any other elements.

JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
You see, we've never had a purely earthbending villain before. Kuvira bent metal, Ghazan primarily bent lava. How many times have we thought of Toph something along the lines of "Wow they're lucky she's on their side"?

JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
We, like her, are disappointed when it's revealed she's just an Earthbender. So we sympathize with her when she becomes the villain.

Though I also like the idea that, despite all the hints and expectation that both Pavi and Nisha will be twin Avatars, only Pavi is. And Nisha, like the audience, felt that she could, and maybe should, have been an Avatar.

JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Wait, what happens if one of them dies? Does that birth the new Avatar or does it pause the Cycle? If it pauses the Cycle, is that what happened 200 years ago? Or are there now 2 separate Avatar Cycles? What if one of them dies in the Avatar State? Does that only end one of the 2 Cycles, or both?
100 0
JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
So far we've seen Nisha only bend earth, and Pavi bend earth, air, and fire. Maybe Pavi will struggle to learn her most challenging element (waterbending) for 2 whole seasons instead of one, and then face a huge threat in books 3&4, after a bit of a time skip. Spirit Bending will be crucial here.

JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
While it seems evident to me that Pavi and Nisha are twin Avatars, I don't think the elements will be split between them. But I think Pavi might be the physical world Avatar, and Nisha the spiritual world Avatar. I think they'll both start as Light Avatars but one of them will tragically turn Dark.

I think Pavi/Nisha is going to reconnect to all of Korra's past lives, including Sonam. It's been 200 years, the stakes have done their job, we can repair the Cycle now. Though I do think there should be a new limitation on reaching past lives, a lasting consequence from Unalaq's actions.

Jae and Pavi are both on their knees when The Red One appears. Though it may be significant that Nisha, like the masked people, is standing. Is she working with them? Or just harder to defeat than Pavi and Jae?

"The world isn't as black and white as you've been taught, little one" Is this foreshadowing a deconstruction of the Vaatu (black) & Raava (white) dichotomy, through other Great Spirits? If there's a Great Spirit in every Haven, could that be what makes them each Havens: that they have a Protector?

JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
"The Spirit World has unleashed its wrath!" says this very cool-looking old man. Perhaps the Red One was 'trapped' by the ancestors of Ellora, and now it seeks revenge, aided by the masked spirit-freedom fighters who want to free the 7 Great Spirits, each imprisoned in a Haven.

JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Maybe humans sought to capture and replicate the power of the Spirits, but their methods released negative energy, polluting the spirit world through the portals. Faced with the destruction of the spirit world, Korra merged the worlds, which also merged the real spirits with the artificial spirits.

JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
These 3 people talking to Pavi&Nisha appear to be the same 3 masked fighters in the first trailer. They also seem to have defeated Pavi and Jae in the presence of the Red One. I think whatever group they belong to is allied with the Spirits of this world, and free the Red One, oblivious to its evils

Is the Ethereal pathway that Pavi is walking across actually the aurora itself? I kind of love the idea that the aurorae are walkable spirit world bridges we can occasionally catch glimpses of on earth. It reminds me a lot of the World Between Worlds used to travel between Vergences in the Force.

Miscellaneous observations: The way this Airbender (Jae) grabs the spear is excellent, catching it with his right hand and then transferring to his left so he can strike with his right. And the foot lock is a great detail! I love how this guy moves, can't wait to see more of him.

Whether or not they still exist, it seems the Red Lotus got what they wanted: chaos without borders, humans and spirits living alongside each other, all governments toppled and a new -fairer- power structure built in their place Is it a coincidence that Ellora itself looks like an open lotus flower?

JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
If the Order of the White Lotus is still around, the Red Lotus (Xai Bau) could be too. Who else would teach everyone that the White Lotus was a crazy cult of Avatar worshippers? Is the leader of Ellora a Red Lotus member? Is this their chaotic vision of the world made reality?

Korra destroyed the world, but not out of malice, nor from ignorance. She made the hardest choice any Avatar has needed to make. Everyone thinks she made the wrong choice, especially herself. But she was right, she did the right thing. And the right thing was unimaginably horrible.

Personally, I don't want *all* of this to be propaganda. Korra being entirely framed is boring, Korra being the cause of the Cataclysm is far more compelling to me. "Korra was framed, it was a misunderstanding" is the most boring way they can play this imo, the only thing worse would be Evil Korra.

So if the Comet plays into the Cataclysm, it must be in a different way. Maybe Asami was trying to destroy the Great Comet to prevent another Fire-based genocide, but her weapon only knocked the comet out of the sky, and down to the earth.

JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
I had considered that maybe a reborn neo-n*z* Fire Nation #2 had risen in preparation for the Great Comet, but even they couldn't have defeated Korra. The Comet would have been just as much, if not more, of a power boost for Korra than for the firebenders.

On the left, the story Ellora knows. The Avatar: Destroyer of Worlds. On the right, the true story: Korra trying her hardest to save the world, and still losing everything. Notice all the fire, Sozin's Comet would have returned only 26 years after LoK. Korra would be 47, which looks about right.

It seems that whatever weapon/power Asami developed mixed with the (dark) spiritual energies of the portal, or maybe with the Avatar State herself As for what could drive her to develop such a thing, my guess would be either Sozin's Comet or a spiritual threat (perhaps capable of bending), or both.

This is the logo of Future Industries, the company of Asami Sato. Long has it been on the bleeding edge of dangerous technology. Her tower of industry apparently built on the site of Asami's first date with Korra (the third spirit portal), it could very well be where their relationship also ended.

Technology that Future Industries built, attempting to harness/replicate immense spiritual power while ostensibly continuing Korra's work of helping both worlds live in symbiotic balance.

I believe the Red One is a Great Spirit, belonging to the same order of Great Spirits as Raava and Vaatu, presumably a Dark spirit like Vaatu. It seems to have fused with pre-Cataclysm technology somehow. Or maybe even was created through technology: an artificial spirit.
110 0
JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
It is odd then, that the beam of dark energy the Red One fires is *not* purple, as we'd expect if it were Vaatu. I think, given how iconic Vaatu's purple beam is, this is good evidence that the Red One is not actually Vaatu, as most people believe.

JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Which seems to suggest that whatever the Cataclysm was, it was caused by either Vaatu, or humans messing with spirit energy again.

JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
When the spirit energy is exploited and weaponized by humans, it's this same purple beam as Vaatu's.
100 0
JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Especially purple beams, which seem to be a special kind of dark spiritual power that can hurt or kill the Avatar, maybe it attacks Raava directly?
100 0
JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Purple represents spiritual corruption, just as gold represents positive spirit energy. Even Unalaq's water turned purple with dark spirit energy in order to attack Raava. When characters are directly spiritually corrupted, attempted or successful; temporary or permanent, it's always purple energy.

I think these storms are some kind of Spirits. Notice this Vaatu-like entity, which I will refer to as the Red One, has red electricity much like the lightning storms of different colours, and the Cataclysm, and even the storm in the new Avatar Aang movie.

JainaSolo1994🪨🔥🌬🌊 @jaina1994.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
If it isn't Sozin's Comet, and it isn't Spirits, then whoever this is would be the most powerful Firebender ever. Or, using the Avatar State. Is this how the White Lotus find out about Nisha? She lost control a few years ago, possibly burning Pavi's leg and killing their mom?
