I’ve been told my voice is soothing, should I do more of these? I did a few for Wired when I was there.

there are experiences you cannot ever truly understand unless you’ve lived them. you can learn about them, and take them into consideration but you can’t understand them. and I think that’s applicable to the experience of sexual trauma as a transfemme. which is, explicitly, what the movie is about.
screenshot from a Jane Schoenbrun interview about camp miasma that reads:

There are two specific repeated lines in the movie that I wanted to touch on. The first being, "If it gets too real, you can always turn it off," which is such a great encapsulation of the film in general, with these themes of consent and of building reassurance, particularly within queer sex, to explore the danger and thrill of what scares you while also having that safety net, which is the most important thing. Being able to explore things you haven't been able to before because there's that trust.
I don't know that I could say it better than you did.
That was absolutely the intention in making a movie about coming into one's self sexually after transition, and undoing a lot of trauma and dissociation, and just terror and avoidance around sex. Knowing that you are safe in the situation you're in to explore things that you are scared to explore with another person-without that, you can't do it. For the movie to talk about that, and to talk about the desire to go to scary places in a way that feels safe, there needed to be some kind of echo through the film, or articulation of what consent actually means.

having opinions on movies depicting experiences outside your own is a good thing. but someone with lived experiences aligned with that movie is going to see things you don’t. it doesn’t mean you didn’t understand it. it means there are parts you are incapable of understanding. that’s not an insult.
bsky post from aftermath editor Chris Person that reads:

The funniest reaction you can see to criticism is people saying
"you simply don't understand what it's about" followed by several completely different and often wrong explanations about what the work is about.

I know. It’s the publication of an AI generated article, period, that’s the problem.
A screencap from an Atlantic article, the text of which is:

Editor's note: This article was generated by Claude Al in the style of Paul Gigot, the Wall Street Journal opinion-page editor. Gigot recently published an Al-generated essay using the investor Stanley Druckenmiller's byline. In the spirit of full disclosure, readers should know that Claude's work was so banal that human Atlantic editors have added
jokes. Human Atlantic copy editors have also fixed a variety of grammatical and style errors.

I know a lot of consumer tech journalists, @taylorlorenz.bsky.social, and none them use AI. in fact, we constantly talk shit about the ones who *do* because when you use AI to do your job as a journalist, you cease to be one. but I guess you'd know all about that, you haven't been one for years
Screenshot from Taylor Lorenz' YouTube channel with the title "The Huge Problem with AI Watermarks" screenshot from Taylor Lorenz twitter saying "I would take this outrage more seriously if the pple engaged in it were directing any similar criticisms at any other big consumer tech journalists (all of whom have been open about the AI tools they use) but they do not. Those journos can openly use AI tools all day and not a peep"

fuck that one: they’re not reporters, two: they’re not AI. tech journalists in this space really need to double down on specific language, not perpetuating a narrative that benefits “AI” companies. we need to normalize calling them what they are: large language models.
A screenshot from WIRED, with the headline “oh lord ai reporters are actually breaking news” and the dek: “last week an ai newsroom beat mainstream journalists including Wired to a story about openAI and hacking. It’s just the beginning”

2025 was brutal, but I did spend at least some of it drawing smut, which is a plus. A few of my less explicit faves:
Curvy woman in peachy pink lingerie with her arms raised over her head. Two figures in ink, on the left, a woman bends over looking back at the viewer over her shoulder. The other, is a woman suggestively eating a banana. Two more women drawn with ink, one is seated with her thighs pressed together, the other is raising one arm and sticking her tongue out at the viewer. Also a tiny doodle of Kiki from Kiki’s delivery service is up at the top.
