Short term? Most economists estimate that it may take a decade or more for U.S. industries to replace production of foreign goods we import. Factories need to be constructed based on sound business decisions, while Trump causes nothing but uncertainty.

This is a perfect scheme to collect import tariffs by our government that will ultimately be paid by our citizens (the consumers) to help deflect income tax burdens on the rich.
